Application Process

Our selection process will be tailored to the job you apply for but most candidates will go through a three or four-stage process. Typically, this involves:

Screening Stage

One of our experienced recruiters or managers will review your CV to assess how well your skills and experience match the requirements of the job you have applied for. The job description on our site tells you what we’re looking for. The more you can match your CV to our needs the better your chance of getting through the screening stage.

Testing Stage

Managers and above may be asked to complete a PAPI profile, and for roles up to the level of senior manager you may be asked to sit our online verbal and numerical reasoning tests. The reasoning tests will take around 20 minutes each but please visit our Tests page for more information on all of the exercises we currently use.

Interview Stage

As you’d imagine, the more senior the role you are applying for, the more interviews you can expect to attend. Our interviews are very much a two-way process. They’re designed to be challenging and will assess your skills and experience, but they’ll also be your opportunity to ask the questions that matter to you. After all, we want you to be sure that the role and KPMG’s culture are right for you. Our interviews are competency based. What we’re looking for are clear examples of how your experience to date matches our competencies. Please visit our Competencies page for more information.

Final Assessment Stage

The final stage will be a more in-depth assessment of your experience. It will typically be built around a further series of interviews with key KPMG staff. In addition to your technical skills, we’ll focus on issues such as team fit and your commercial aptitude. If you’re going to be leading a team then your people management skills and experience will be explored in more detail.

Increasingly, this final stage can involve an assessment centre in which you’ll be challenged by a variety of role play, business case studies and presentation exercises. If you’re applying to be a Partner or Director, the final stage of the process will be a panel interview and presentation.
