KPMG names Joachim Schindler as Global Head of Audit

Joachim Schindler, head of audit for KPMG Europe LLP since 2007, has been named global head of audit for KPMG International, according to an announcement by Timothy P. Flynn, chairman, KPMG International.

KPMG has reached its fundraising target of £1million for its staff selected people charity, Alzheimer's Society over one month ahead of schedule with further events still to be held.

KPMG wins MCA Award for 'Business Strategy'

KPMG has won the Award for 'Business Strategy' for its work at Royal Bank of Scotland ('RBS'), at the Management Consultancies Association's ('MCA') Management Awards held in London on 29 April 2010. 


KPMG achieves Carbon Trust Standard

KPMG in the UK has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard across all 22 of its UK offices after taking action on climate change by measuring and reducing its carbon emissions by 5.5% in the year to September 2009 when comparing the year ending in September 2009 to the average of the previous two years.

  • Performance and Technology reveals growth ambitions

    Scott Parker, UK Head of Performance & Technology, has unveiled the growth ambitions of KPMG’s P&T practice in the UK. In an exclusive interview with The Times, Scott revealed plans to recruit 300 people across all grades over the next 12 months as the practice aims to treble its consulting revenue to £600 million.

  • Haiti Earthquake Appeal

    KPMG member firms around the globe are coordinating efforts to provide support to some of the hundreds of thousands of people affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti. Extensive funding is required to help re-build the lives of the Haitian people. The crippling destruction to the limited infrastructure continues to disrupt aid and relief agencies who are trying to provide survivors with basic shelter, food and clean water. We are currently looking at how KPMG can contribute in the long-term. In the short-term, we are globally, through KPMG International, contributing US$500,000 to the relief efforts. KPMG UK are further matching employee donations up to £50,000. Our thoughts go out to those affected by this disaster and we will continue to look at ways in which KPMG can contribute in the longer term.

  • Noughties are a lost decade for Pensions

    Widely reported in recent coverage was KPMG research which concluded that the last 10 years could become known as the ‘lost decade’ for pensions. Highlights also included: the FT reporting that the government has commissioned KPMG to consult with the railway industry as part of a wider review into rail franchising; the FT commenting on tax authorities stepping-up their focus on wealthy people with more aggressive demands to disclose their financial affairs; KPMG’s financial results referenced in many regional titles following recent reports in UK national media; and The Guardian reporting the findings of KPMG’s fraud barometer, which predicts that a ‘recession-fuelled’ spate of bribery and corruption will keep fraud at record highs in 2010.

  • Nina Amin wins Leadership in Diversity Award

    Nina Amin, Partner within the London and Eastern Counties tax practice has been awarded the Leadership in Diversity Award in the prestigious Asian Who’s Who awards held in London on 30th November 2009. Nina was presented with her award by Mohinder Kaur at the event which is the biggest celebration of Asian success and achievement in the UK and attended by some of the most powerful and influential members of the Asian community. Previous winners of the award have included Tarique Ghaffur, who was the assistant commissioner at the Metropolitan Police.

  • Permanent placements rose at fastest pace for two years in October

    The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs – published 4th November – signals sharper rises in both permanent and temporary staff appointments during October. Growth of permanent and temporary staff appointments accelerated to two-year and sixteen-month highs respectively.

    Bernard Brown, Partner and Head of Business Services at KPMG comments: "The UK jobs market looks healthier today than at any time in the last two years which is, of course, encouraging news. Sectors like accounting and banking lead the recovery and we may well have reached the tipping point into growth."
