Professional Qualifications
If you apply to Public Sector Audit, you will need to select which Professional Qualification you would like to work towards.
In some cases, the qualifications available depend upon the location. Please see our How to Apply pages for details.
• Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) which is offered by the ICAEW (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales)
• Chartered Accountants (CA) which is offered by ICAS (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland). All trainees in Scotland study for CA.
• Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
• CIPFA is offered by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
All are three year courses.
The CIPFA qualification is offered by our public sector practice, as it is tailored and gives you a good background in sector-specific issues, which should help you in your day-to-day job. The ACA qualification is more general and is not sectors specific.
The entry requirements for all of these routes to start in 2011 are 320 UCAS tariff points, a grade B in GCSE Maths and English and at least a 2:1 in any subject.
