Career mobility

Career mobility

Change extends your horizons. It gives you a fresh perspective and the opportunity to learn from others. That's why we make it easy for you to move around at KPMG, both between member firms and different functions. There may also be opportunities for you to go on secondment to a client or another organisation.

International opportunities range from short-term assignments of just three months to long-term assignments of two or three years. And, if you decide to move across service areas, you’ll probably move on a permanent basis.

We'll give you all the help you need to adjust to your new role, from assistance with relocation costs to mentoring support. This allows you to get the most out of your new experience, whether that’s working with different types of clients, learning about a new industry or simply settling into a new culture and way of life.

KPMG in the UK is part of a truly worldwide network of KPMG member firms and our clients are also operating in increasingly globalised markets. That means we can offer the potential to develop a career with an international perspective. Although it’s much more likely that our trainees are sent to a meeting in Newcastle than New York, graduate trainees do sometimes work on projects that require overseas travel.

Most international assignments are only open to KPMG people who are fully qualified. Once you’re qualified, there are a range of short and long-term assignments that are advertised on our intranet. If your background and skills match the need, you can apply for any position that interests you.

At any one time, there are usually around 300 people from KPMG in the UK on assignment to KPMG member firms across the world; we even have a dedicated global mobility team which provides different kinds of support.

KPMG in the UK’s people can be attached to an overseas member firm for a variety of reasons: to gain detailed local experience, to develop specific skills which they can bring back to the UK, to support a particular client of that member firm, or to train people and transfer knowledge.
