Integrity and Ethical use of AI guidance

in Early Careers Recruitment

At KPMG, integrity is one of our core values. We believe in doing the right thing, acting ethically, and maintaining the highest professional standards in everything we do.

We want every candidate to have a fair opportunity to demonstrate their potential, which is why we ask applicants to complete all applications and assessments honestly, independently, and in a way that reflects their own skills, experiences, and judgement.

This page explains our expectations of candidates, how and when Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be used during the recruitment process, and why you'll be asked to agree to integrity statements before completing assessments.

AI and your application

AI is transforming the way organisations work, creating opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and growth. Guided by Our Trusted AI Framework, we take a values-driven, human-centric, and trustworthy approach to AI to enhance the work we do. This is while ensuring that human judgement, critical thinking, and professional integrity remain essential. Learn more about our work in AI.

As a candidate, AI can be a valuable tool when preparing for your application, but it must not be used in ways that compromise the fairness of our recruitment process.

Appropriate uses of AI

  • Learning more about KPMG, our business areas, and career opportunities
  • Researching professional services and exploring potential career paths
  • • Refining potential answers when practising for your own interview with AI-generated feedback and coaching
  • Improving your organisation, planning, and time management
  • Identifying areas within your feedback reports for personal learning and development

AI can be a useful tool for preparing for our recruitment process. However, all application content, assessment responses, and interview answers must be your own and reflect your personal experiences, judgement, and abilities.

When you must not use AI

  • Generating responses for application questions
  • Completing any part of an online assessment on your behalf
  • Creating answers that are presented as your own work
  • Providing answers or solutions during assessments

Doing so misrepresents your skills, knowledge, or the abilities that we are assessing.

Your commitment

We expect all candidates to approach the recruitment process honestly and independently. This means completing assessments yourself, using your own judgement and decision-making, and providing responses that reflect your own skills, experiences, and abilities. AI must not be used in ways that compromise the fairness of our recruitment process. Assessments should be completed without assistance from other people or AI and in an environment that allows you to focus and perform at your best. Assessment materials must not be copied, shared, or sold, and candidates must not take any action that could assist or encourage others to breach these expectations.

Before submitting your application and before completing each assessment, you will be asked to confirm that you have read, understood and agree to KPMG’s Terms and Conditions and expected Candidate Conduct requirements. This helps ensure a clear and shared understanding of the standards expected throughout the recruitment process, including the importance of completing assessments honestly, independently and with integrity.

By agreeing to these terms, you are confirming that your assessment will be completed honestly, independently, and in accordance with our expectations.

To help ensure a fair and consistent recruitment process, KPMG may monitor assessments, verify candidate activity, and conduct additional checks or re-testing at any stage of the application or offer process. KPMG reserves the right to withdraw an application, rescind an offer, or take additional appropriate action where there is reason to believe that inappropriate candidate behaviour or an integrity concern has occurred. Please see our full KPMG Candidate Privacy Notice.

Adjustments

If you require adjustments or are considering the use of tools to support with an adjustment (e.g. note-taking), please email graduate@kpmg.co.uk or apprenticeships@kpmg.co.uk, or call us on 0800 328 5764 before you start any assessment so that we can explore the best way we can support. Please note, we are unable to accommodate any adjustment once an assessment has been started.

Fraudulent Websites

We want to warn you that any external sources (paid for or unpaid) offering to support you through the KPMG recruitment process (including taking assessment tests for you) are not supported or endorsed by us in any way. Please note that any KPMG assessment material provided by these sources have not been obtained from us legitimately, and could provide misleading, incorrect, or false information. KPMG will never charge for assessment advice and the application details on our career page will provide you all the information you need to understand our process.

Reporting Concerns

We need to work together to make sure we do the right thing and ensure that we call it out when we notice something is not quite right. This helps to protect one another and KPMG.

If you observe any inappropriate behaviour in connection with any part of our early careers recruitment process (including at one of our in-person Launch Pad assessment centres) please report this by emailing graduate@kpmg.co.uk, calling us on 0800 328 5764 or via our confidential whistleblowing hotline.

We're committed to ensuring a fair early career recruitment process for everyone.
