George’s Story - A Career Built on Growth and Giving Back

When George joined KPMG straight from school through an apprenticeship programme, he stepped into the world of audit eager to learn, grow and build a long-term career. Over more than a decade, he has developed specialist experience across banking audits and digital assets while building strong relationships with teams across the firm. “I started young, but KPMG has always felt like the right place to grow,” he says. “Every stage has taught me something new.”  

Alongside his technical audit work, George supports organisations by reviewing key financial processes, guiding teams through annual reporting requirements, and coordinating specialist input when needed. Stepping into a people‑focused leadership role also gave him a broader understanding of how the business operates - from planning workloads to supporting colleagues’ development. “It pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect,” he shares. “KPMG trusted me to take on more responsibility, and that support made a huge difference.  

One of the moments George is proudest of is helping a colleague find a way to balance their work with further study. Through ongoing conversations and careful planning, he supported a solution that enabled them to continue thriving in both areas. Outside of work, George is also a dedicated long‑distance runner, and he values the flexibility KPMG provides to pursue his passion. “There are busy times, of course,” he says, “but I’ve always been supported to make space for what matters to me.”

For George, Making the Difference means leading with empathy and creating an environment where people feel supported. He believes it’s the everyday actions - listening, guiding, lifting others up - that truly shape a positive experience. “If you can make someone’s day a little easier or help them move forward, that’s making the difference,” he reflects. “It’s those small moments that matter most.”
