KPMG's Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) practice within IGH is an area of the firm with tremendous growth potential. GRCS is an integral part of our Enterprise Risk advisory practice. We provide services relating to internal audit, internal control, corporate governance, risk management and related assurance projects. Clients are based in the public sector and our services deliver added value to clients using modern control assessment, risk management and audit techniques focusing on strategic, management and operational issues as well as financial management and reporting controls. We also work closely with other consulting teams including our colleagues in Technology Risk and Cyber Risk to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice and assurance. 

You will be working on a range of projects in the water and energy network sectors. Your work will focus on cost assessment.

Our clients seek expert advice relating to cost and performance benchmarking. There is no ‘typical project’. You will need to apply a structured strategic approach to problem solving, drawing on established economic principles, while having the capacity to think creatively.

Our approach to benchmarking can involve econometric models comparing costs across companies. We also support clients through cost benefit analysis and other benchmarking approaches, such as unit cost models.

The projects that you will advise on will be high profile and varied. For example, in recent years we have advised nearly every water and energy network company on their price control reviews, been the lead advisor on several CMA appeals, and advised on major transactions within the sectors. We have the skills and capabilities to be involved in every major development within the sector.

The work will include a combination of report drafting, data collection/verification, economic analysis, econometric analysis, and engaging with clients.

You will also take a key role in developing the skills of more junior staff.

Power & Utilities (P&U) is one of the largest business areas of the IAG and encompasses work for major clients in the sector, including all energy and water utilities as well as some of the largest companies in Europe and beyond. We provide in-depth strategic and technical advice on corporate finance and corporate financial management, regulatory finance, regulatory policy, business and financial planning, cost assessment and benchmarking as well as in other areas directly affecting value. Our work combines elements of policy, finance, strategy and economics to assist our clients in structuring investments, securing financing, supporting regulatory regimes and maximising shareholder value. KPMG’s Strategy & Performance Transformation practice is looking for exceptional candidates for an Manager role, with a sector focus on the Consumer, Retail & Leisure industry and with particular experience in Deal Strategy, one of our core propositions. Additional experience across our other propositions - Growth Strategy, Cost and Operational strategy (including Economic Profitability Analysis) and Enterprise-wide Transformation - will also be valuable.
