The role

 

  • Acting as the day-to-day contact on audit and tax reporting engagements, liaising with audit teams, the client and AARTS/tax managers
  • Reviewing, testing and documenting technical tax disclosures prepared by clients and their independent advisers
  • Delegating delivery of work to junior colleagues whilst maintaining control of quality and timetables.
    Developing and maintaining client relationships across a portfolio of clients.
  • Developing and maintaining internal relationships with the audit teams, and other departments.
  • Mentoring and developing of junior members of staff.
  • Keep up to date and share technical insights with rest of AARTS team.

Overview

This exciting role is within our Tax Governance & Risk Management Team based in our CSQ office.

 

We are looking for a talented individual at Manager level to support our continued rapid growth around tax governance. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic and challenging working environment, supported by a strong and ambitious leadership team.

 

You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients across UK listed, PE backed, multinationals, inbound and family-owned groups,

Role and Responsibilities: 

Working as a key member of the team to further develop and expand the firm's tax governance offering, including advising clients on:

  • Identifying and managing tax risks across the globe.
  • Building sustainable tax control frameworks to meet global tax authority requirements.
  • Identifying the tax risks within tax transformation and technology projects.
  • Senior Accounting Officer and Corporate Criminal Offence compliance.
  • HMRC business risk review preparation.
  • Developing and documenting their tax strategy and its publication.
  • Meeting global tax transparency and ESG requirements.
  • Liaising with HMRC on tax governance related matters

You will also be involved in:

  • Leveraging tax technology to improve risk management and compliance processes.
  • Liaising with specialists in the UK and overseas offices to oversee their input into projects.
  • Coaching and developing more junior members of the team.
  • Managing aspects of the team’s operations and performance, including resourcing.

The Opportunity

  • KPMG Law wishes to hire a manager - with at least 4 years post qualified experience in the construction sector ideally working within a real estate department acting for real estate investment and/or development clients and owners with repeat activity. 
  • The KPMG Law UK real estate team started in December 2013 and is now 11 strong including 5 Partners with further growth plans during 2026 already acting on repeat investment, development and asset management mandates for private equity funds, sovereign wealth and listed property company clients. The team currently includes x1 Construction Partner and x1 Construction Senior Manager, hence the need to recruitment additional Construction capability at Manager level.
  • The successful candidate will have experience working on real estate (and infrastructure if possible but not essential) building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties and other ancillary documents, including bonds and parent company guarantees. Experience working on development funding and/or development management agreements would also be advantageous.

Functional skills

• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• An understanding of the key business issues/drivers that result in clients pursuing Finance transformation programmes (e.g. cost reduction, insight led improvement etc.).
• Experience of multiple industry sectors (e.g. Media, Services, Retail, Banking, Insurance, Local and Central Government etc.).
• Strong influencing skills, with the ability to land key decisions with senior leaders and key business stakeholders.
• Experience of multiple Workday Finance ERP implementation project lifecycles, from presales, scoping and planning through to post go live support, as a Solution Architect.
• Detailed knowledge of Workday Finance enabled end-to-end business process across Finance and Procurement.
• A background in designing and delivering end-to-end business processes across multiple functional areas including Invoice to Cash (Receivables, Collection and Cash Management), Record to Report (General Ledger including Intercompany), Procure to Pay (Sourcing, Procurement, Payables and Payments), Acquire to Retire (Fixed Assets), Project to Result (Project Management and Project Accounting – Costing and Billing), within Workday Finance.
• Broad knowledge of other Workday product sets like HR and Payroll solutions
• An understanding of the functional, application and technical architectural elements of an Workday Finance programme.
• Experience of operating and implementing in a cloud environment and understanding the impacts of implementing and operating on the cloud versus on premise.
• Understanding of an Workday Finance delivery lifecycle using Workday’s methodology or equivalent delivery method.
