The Partner Independence team are part of the wider Ethics & Independence (“E&I”) team and sit within Quality and Risk Management. The E&I team is responsible for developing and deploying appropriate policy, procedure and guidance on Ethics and Independence (firm, personal and service-related) to ensure compliance with regulatory and KPMG International requirements, ensuring an adequate programme of communication and training in respect of those policies and procedures is in place and providing guidance and advice to Partners and staff on all E&I matters.

The Partner Independence team provide support and guidance to all of KPMG’s Partners and Directors and play an important role ensuring personal independence compliance is met and upheld by helping them to accurate maintain their personal compliance records in line with the policies and procedures surrounding their personal financial affairs.

KPMG has one of the leading Indirect Tax & Customs practices in the UK.

We work as a national practice providing advice and support in all aspects of Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs Duty, Green taxes) to a broad range of business sectors including large multi-nationals, household name retailers and public sector organisations.

The Indirect Tax practice is a fast-growing and dynamic business, currently with 13 partners and approximately 200 professional staff in the UK.

The role in question is with the Trade & Customs team.

Trade & Customs

KPMG has a large team of Trade & Customs specialists located across the UK, working to support our national portfolio of clients with a variety of Trade & Customs issues. Within the team we have deep specialists in areas such as valuation, classification, origin and customs special procedures.  We work closely with our colleagues in Indirect Tax, other areas of Tax such as Transfer Pricing, and the wider Advisory business to deliver value to KPMG’s clients for whom we offer a wide range of services including customs advisory, compliance reviews and preparation of duty reclaims.

You will be a key member of our team:

 

  • Providing high quality Customs & Trade advice on a broad range of issues to a wide range of clients.
  • Supporting senior members of the team in the delivery of client projects and business development initiatives
  • Day-to-day, direct contact with clients and developing long lasting, positive relationships.

KPMG is looking to recruit an Assistant Manager in their in-house Tax team, specialising in partner tax compliance. Reporting to the Senior Manager in the Partner Tax Compliance team, the individual will be required to demonstrate excellent tax compliance skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. The work is by nature high profile and the ability to treat matters with the utmost confidentiality will be key. The role involves interacting with individual partners and working alongside other internal departments including the Partnership Office, Risk and Independence, payroll and OGC to deliver an efficient tax compliance and advisory service to partners as well as the partnership.
