KPMG has one of the leading Indirect Tax & Customs practices in the UK. We work as a national practice providing advice and support in all aspects of Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs Duty, Green taxes) to a broad range of business sectors including large multi-nationals, household name retailers and public sector organisations. The Indirect Tax practice is a fast-growing and dynamic business, currently with 13 partners and approximately 200 professional staff in the UK. The role in question is with the Trade & Customs team. Trade & Customs KPMG has a large team of Trade & Customs specialists located across the UK, working to support our national portfolio of clients with a variety of Trade & Customs issues. Within the team we have deep specialists in areas such as valuation, classification, origin and customs special procedures.  We work closely with our colleagues in Indirect Tax, other areas of Tax such as Transfer Pricing, and the wider Advisory business to deliver value to KPMG’s clients for whom we offer a wide range of services including customs advisory, compliance reviews and preparation of duty reclaims. Roles and Responsibilities You will be a key member of our team:   Providing high quality Customs & Trade advice on a broad range of issues to a wide range of clients. Supporting senior members of the team in the delivery of client projects and business development initiatives Day-to-day, direct contact with clients and developing long lasting, positive relationships. Working with and developing Tax Assistants within the team.

As an SAP Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of SAP projects, ensuring successful safe execution, and maintaining strong client relationships. You will lead multi-disciplined teams to drive delivery excellence, leveraging Agile, Waterfall & Hybrid methodologies. Additionally, you will play a key role in business development, commercial proposition creation, and financial & commercial oversight.

Overview

 

This exciting role is within our London Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in our Canary Wharf office. 

 

Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and inbound groups across a range of sectors. 

 

Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2).

 

We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time. 

 

The role

 

• Working closely with Partners, Directors and/or Senior Managers on complex projects to deliver technically excellent advice and service

• Managing UK and cross border teams on advisory projects, liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers, critically analysing and challenging their input to deliver successful projects and expertise to our clients
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients
• Managing teams and coaching and developing junior members of staff both in respect of technical delivery and soft skills
• Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials
• Being a role model for KPMG’s values

 

You'll also have the opportunity to get involved in UK corporation tax compliance and reporting if that interests you.

 

The person

 

• Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent

• UK corporation tax experience
• Sustains a high level of energy, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude that translates across the team
