This current vacancy is for an Assistant Manager in our Corporate Tax Advisory and Compliance (‘CTAC’) team based in Manchester.

 

You will work collaboratively to assist the team with the managing of tax relationships across a diverse portfolio of clients which will provide you with a broad range of technical experience. You will take on a variety of projects covering international tax, treasury tax, group restructuring, tax governance, group reporting and domestic tax advisory and compliance.

What will you be doing?

Working as a key member of the team to provide corporate tax advice to a broad range of clients helping them to achieve their commercial objectives. 

 

  • Being one of the main points of contact on a portfolio of clients on day-to-day tax matters (both compliance and advisory) and working with Senior Managers and Managers on our larger client accounts
  • Undertaking tax advisory projects, including providing UK corporation tax advice based on experience, researching technical topics, working with other areas of UK tax and our overseas members firms to incorporate their input into our advice.
  • Ensuring our clients are kept up to date with emerging corporate and wider tax developments impacting their business.
  • The delivery of UK corporation tax compliance services
  • Supervising the work of junior members of staff and providing coaching to support their development.
  • Assisting our Managers and Senior Managers with client account management, including complying with appropriate quality and risk management procedures and financial management
  • Support the leadership with business development opportunities.

What you need

  • Demonstrable experience of UK Corporate Tax Compliance as a minimum, with a preference of some advisory

The Role

Responsibilities

  • We require the individual to manage technical client projects and support internal product development around risk and regulatory issues for our banking clients.
  • Support the development of risk and regulatory topics including wholesale conduct risk, prudential risk, market risk and/or financial and non-financial regulatory reporting.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Knowledge

  • Good understanding of banks and/or trading businesses
  • Strong understanding of financial products
  • Strong understanding of financial services firms' businesses, structures, governance frameworks, risk management and process and control arrangements, in the Banking and/or Investment Management sectors
  • Strong familiarity with role of key bank functions including Front office, Market Risk, Product control, Treasury and Compliance
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills and ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external networks
  • Experience of regulation impacting banking clients and knowledge of new regulatory developments impacting them
  • A practical understanding of the ‘three lines of defence’ model
