Summary of Role Purpose:

As a Manager within Dispute Advisory Services (“DAS”), you will take a lead role on a portfolio of engagements of varying size and complexity.    You will have a primary focus on Dispute Advisory Services, although you may also be involved in other types of engagement ranging from financial, fraud or misconduct investigations, through to proactive risk management and regulatory driven compliance work.

Description of the role:

Managing a portfolio of Forensic DAS engagements, with a primary focus on Dispute Advisory, providing advice and support in connection with breach of contract, transaction, warranty and completion accounts, expert determinations, expropriations, product recall, and business disruption and other insurance claims Acting independently in managing engagements, under overall supervision of the engagement leader Managing the risks and financials associated with client engagements Preparation of reports and sections thereof for Senior Manager / Director / Partner review Contributing to the development of propositions / proposals / bids for future work Engaging credibly with senior stakeholders at clients (e.g. board level individuals at corporate clients and/or law firm partners) on behalf of KPMG Developing and overseeing more junior members of the team on project assignments Recognising the importance of continuous self and team development and actively striving to achieve this

Overview

This exciting role is within our South Region Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance (CTAC) team, based in our Reading office. KPMG’s CTAC team has an immediate need for an Assistant Manager to support delivery of a range of engagements across corporate tax advisory, compliance and related work. The CTAC Reading team has a very strong market reputation working with leading Global clients on a range of tax services. There is a strong pipeline of project and advisory work. Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and large international groups across a range of sectors including TMT, healthcare amongst others. Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2). We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time.

The Role

• Being one of the main points of contact on a portfolio of clients on day-to-day tax matters and working with Partner/Director group, Senior Managers and Managers on our larger client accounts

• Supporting tax advisory projects by providing UK corporation tax input based on experience and researching topics and by working with other areas of tax and our overseas members firms to incorporate their input into our advice

• Ensuring our clients are kept up to date with emerging corporate and wider tax developments and budgets impacting their business

• Supporting the delivery of UK corporation tax compliance services

• Supervising the work of junior members of staff and providing coaching to support their development

• Assisting our Managers and Senior Managers with client account management, including complying with appropriate quality and risk management procedures and financial management

• Support the leadership with business development opportunities

The Person

• Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent

• UK corporation tax experience (preferable)

• Problem solver, identifies core issues, investigates, evaluates, and integrates information

• Communicates with impact, in a way that is open, honest, consistent, and clear

• Sustains a high level of drive, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work

• Takes personal responsibility and accountability for managing own work and juggling
