The KPMG financial services corporate tax team is a fast-growing part of the KPMG tax practice. We are looking for excellent candidates who are seeking a dynamic and challenging working environment within a strong supportive leadership team.  Our team has a diverse client and target base spanning the Financial Services sector - providing services to traditional asset managers and financial services institutions, private equity funds, alternative investors, the real estate sector, wealth and hedge asset managers, UK pension funds and global institutional investors. 

The role is in our Alternatives, Asset Management tax team, with a particular focus on our Private Equity and Credit fund client base. 

We are looking for a candidate with a particular interest in providing clients with corporate and income tax advisory and compliance services, ideally with experience in the Alternative funds market sector.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a good level of core corporate tax technical or income tax knowledge and a confident outward facing skillset willing to invest time and effort in the marketplace.

The Responsibilities

The role involves a mix of tax advisory services and compliance management. This will include:

  • Developing and leading client relationships and the KPMG team (including where relevant the wider client service team).
  • Understanding the client's business and working with the team to identify areas for the provision of tax and other services.
  • Ownership of the provision of tax advice on a wide range of projects, undertaking detailed technical research.
  • Where relevant, taking responsibility for the finalised deliverables in the tax compliance process (partnership tax returns, corporation tax returns and investor reports) and undertaking tax accounting work to assist clients with their statutory reporting process.
  • Working with Senior team members to support and help junior team members develop their technical and soft skills.
  • Involvement in business development activity, including developing and advising on cutting-edge client propositions.
  • Ensuring all risk procedures are adhered to.

 

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax or income tax and an awareness of other tax and accounting areas. Previous experience within the financial services sector would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High level analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice.
  • Ability to work as part of a multifunctional team.
  • Strong task and team management skills.
  • Ability to build client relationships.
  • Good computational and excel skills.
  • Good technology skills - experience of Alphatax would be advantageous but not essential

Job Title: Cloud Technical Architect

 

 We are seeking an experienced Cloud Technical Architect with a strong background in Microsoft Azure to join the Enterprise Strategy and Architecture team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based solutions to meet the needs of a highly regulated organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cloud-based solutions primarily based on Microsoft Azure technology.
  • Be able to create detailed Low Level Design (LLD) documents in Microsoft Visio, to give engineers sufficient detail to execute against.
  • Able to interpret conceptual/solutions designs which may be in Visio or Aris, and translate them into LLD based on pattern based translations.
  • Work with stakeholders and other architects to understand the business needs and provide technical guidance and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in cloud computing and related technologies.
  • Manage other Technical Architects from 3rd party providers and offshore resource pools. Ensure the maintenance of a demand pipeline.
  • Able to apply a critical eye in the review of designs, to ensure alignment with strategic patterns.
  • Experience working in a formalised governance model (such as an Architectural Review Board, or Design Authority construct).
  • Support the Cloud Strategic initiatives as required. With dotted lines into Cloud EA and Cloud Engineering.

 

The Person

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Able to evidence significant on the job experience in Cloud Computing, with a focus on Microsoft Azure
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and design principles.
  • Experience with Azure services such as Virtual Machines, App Services, Storage, and Networking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in using Azure development and deployment tools, Azure DevOps, Azure Resource Manager, or Terraform.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues.

Experience Required

• Must be able to demonstrate experience on transactions, and the ability to supervise and develop more junior members of the team. Strong project management skills are a must.
• Be able to demonstrate good experience of coordinating the provision of advice and the production of complex and interrelated legal agreements and documentation by advisers in multiple jurisdictions. While consulting appropriately on difficult issues, they must be able to deliver robust and appropriate legal advice and exercise sound judgement.
• Significant experience of working with demanding clients across a wide spectrum of scale and sectors and be expert at service delivery.
• They must be able to demonstrate sound client relationship and business development skills, and a desire to develop these skills further.

The successful applicant will be expected to take responsibility for servicing and building the team. They will help promote the team’s work through participating in team and firm events and giving internal and external presentations.
