The Powered Apps teams are communities of technology focussed professionals who work together to deliver SaaS ERP and EPM based transformation programmes based on KPMG Powered Enterprise. The teams use their functional knowledge and experience (e.g. Planning, Finance, Procurement), coupled with their expertise in the cloud applications (e.g. Oracle, Workday, Coupa) to lead and deliver client programmes, to support pre-sales activities and to develop improvement and extensions to the Powered Enterprise model. Overview

 

This exciting role is within our Midlands Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in our Birmingham or Nottingham office. 

 

Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and inbound groups across a range of sectors. 

 

Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2).

 

We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time. 

 

The role

 

• Working closely with Partners, Directors and/or Senior Managers on complex projects to deliver technically excellent advice and service

• Managing UK and cross border teams on advisory projects, liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers, critically analysing and challenging their input to deliver successful projects and expertise to our clients
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients
• Managing teams and coaching and developing junior members of staff both in respect of technical delivery and soft skills
• Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials
• Being a role model for KPMG’s values

• Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent

• UK corporation tax experience

What will you need to do it?

•    Assisting with the management of UK-wide portfolio of clients, maintaining relationships with senior KPMG and client staff and being responsible for the financial performance and delivery of these accounts
•    Demonstrating a detailed understanding of how current and emerging legal, regulatory, governance, risk management, auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards affect their clients
•    Understanding and assisting managers to undertake KPMG's internal risk management and client engagement management procedures including client acceptance, continuance and engagement procedures
•    Keeping up to date with all industry specific issues and circumstances which affect your clients
•    Developing internal audit strategies which address all internal audit, client service and project management issues, in accordance with the KPMG internal audit methodology
•    Delivering against those audit strategies
•    Recognising where specialists are required and involving other KPMG staff, managing their input to the client
•    Reviewing the audit evidence obtained ensuring it is sufficient in line with International Internal Audit (IIA) and PSIAS (Public Sector Internal Audit) Standards and KPMG method

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join our KPE Audit team. KPE stands for KPMG Private Enterprise therefore audited entities comprise privately owned businesses and private equity backed businesses.

As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day high-quality delivery of audit engagements from planning through to completion.

Alongside audit delivery work, you will also supervise junior team members, and provide coaching and development to help them reach their full potential. This will include planning and supervising their work to ensure the work quality is to a high standard. 

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of stakeholder relationships at audited entities and can expect to work with senior level staff.

You will work closely with the Audit Manager, Senior Manager, Director and Partner, ensuring that they are kept up to date with progress, involving them on a timely basis in all phases of the audit and when issues arise.
