• Banking Accounting Advisory (BAA) is a team of Banking and Financial Services technical accounting specialists with extensive experience delivering expert accounting advisory services, financial reporting and regulatory change projects to major Tier-1 global banks, challenger banks and building societies.

• We have deep expertise in complex accounting within the Banking and Financial Services sector such as IFRS 9, hedge accounting, securitisations and other structured transactions, derivatives, and deal accounting for mergers and acquisitions and group reorganisations.

• We also provide SME advice on the critical interactions between IFRS and PRA/EBA regulatory regimes.

• Assist with the management of client opportunities, deliver live engagements and provide input into larger multi-disciplinary teams.

This is an exciting opportunity in a new role within the System of Quality Management (SoQM) Technical team within the newly established SoQM Centre of Excellence during a period of significant change for the SoQM. 

QC1000 is a new quality control standard from the PCAOB to be implemented by 15 December 2025.  While the assessment of the incremental requirements of QC1000 and the differences from the current UK / International Standard ISQM1 are being led globally, further detailed assessment of the differences and implementation of additional changes will be required at the UK level and are not only likely to result in the implementation of new or amended controls, but also in system and/or operational changes.

Feedback from our regulator, the FRC, and requirements of QC1000 have prompted the firm to consider the acceptable timeframe for completion of SoQM activities, and what processes and support are in place to ensure Process and Control Owners meet those expectations. 

The SoQM Technical team provides technical support to the business by performing the iterative risk assessment process alongside stakeholders, ensuring controls have been appropriately designed to address the risks, providing SoQM training and guidance to the business and responding to regulator requests.

As such we are looking for high quality candidates to support our growth and development of existing and new service lines, while building on the work already undertaken in the Group.

The Role

We are looking for a Manager to support the fast growing Power & Utilities Projects team covering water and energy infrastructure including new nuclear generation, onshore and offshore networks, interconnectors, and other major assets.

The Projects business is focussed on designing new markets and advising on in-house and competitive delivery models for major infrastructure projects and programmes.  We advise companies, developers, bidders and regulators on all aspects of delivering major infrastructure assets and competitive procurements. Some of the projects we have advised on include Hinkley Point C, potential investor in Sizewell C, Thames Tideway Tunnel, Hydrogen Transport Business Model, multiple Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) projects, OFTOs, Special Infrastructure Projects Regime (SIPR), Cap and Floor Interconnectors, Competitively Appointed Transmission Owners (CATOs) and new nuclear projects (NNPs). Our clients are typically based in the UK and across Europe.

Services provided by the P&U Projects team include:

─ Strategic and policy advise to major developers, bidders and other stakeholders, including government bodies and regulators on delivering utilities infrastructure and in particular large projects
