About this team

The Global Insurance Management Team (“GIMT”) is responsible for the management, oversight and coordination of KPMG's Global Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) and First Party Cyber Insurance Programs providing business critical insurance to approximately 145 member firms within the KPMG network. The GIMT acts as a principal point of contact between insurers/brokers and KPMG Member Firms, providing guidance to KPMG Member Firms on matters pertaining to the Global PII and Cyber insurance programs and is involved in the development and procurement of other insurance placements for KPMG International.

Role summary

KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Insurance Manager to join our Global Insurance Management Team (“GIMT”) experienced in the field of financial lines insurance particularly Professional Indemnity Insurance (“PII”) and Cyber Insurance. The individual will work closely with other GIMT team members and be responsible for providing technical insurance support in respect of KPMG's Global PII and Cyber Insurance Programs and in support of ongoing business change initiatives. The individual will interface directly with a range of internal and external stakeholders including KPMGI Senior Leadership, KPMG Member Firm Senior Partners, Risk Management Partners, General Counsels, insurers (including captive insurers) and brokers.

The role will focus on providing technical support and guidance relating to all aspects of insurance program management including program design and implementation, policy wording reviews, coverage analysis, insurance support for business change initiatives and issues associated with global insurance programs including insurance regulatory compliance. KPMG's Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) practice within Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare (IGH) is an area of the firm with tremendous growth potential as proven by recent significant wins. It provides services relating to internal audit, internal control, corporate governance, risk management and related assurance projects to our clients based in the public sector. Our services deliver added value to clients through the use of modern control assessment, risk management and internal audit techniques focusing on strategic, management and operational issues as well as financial management and reporting controls. We also work closely with other advisory teams including our colleagues in Technology Risk and Cyber Risk to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice and assurance. You’ll form part of a 20-strong team based out of the Manchester office, principally servicing our client base in the North whilst also being involved with work with our wider national team.

The Role 
As an Assistant Manager in GRCS there will be opportunities to work on a variety of engagements for our clients covering the spectrum of services that we provide including:  

• Assurance mapping
• Creating annual audit plans for clients
• Providing internal audit services on both outsourced and co-sourced contractual basis
• Managing and directly delivering a programme of internal audit projects which includes planning, review, quality assurance and reporting
• Working with a client’s in-house internal audit function for co-source engagements to supply specialist or additional resource needed
• Process improvement projects
• Risk management, governance and internal audit advisory services
• Risk identification workshops and control reviews
• Delivering control and risk training
• Managing and reviewing internal control questionnaires
• Corporate governance reviews
• Contract compliance audits
• Assessing effectiveness of internal audit functions, audit committees and boards
• Working with members of other KPMG advisory teams 
• Business development

Responsibilities 

• Assisting with the management of a North of England and UK-wide portfolio of clients, maintaining relationships with senior KPMG and client staff and being responsible for the financial performance and delivery of these accounts
• Demonstrating a detailed understanding of how current and emerging legal, regulatory, governance, risk management, auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards affect their clients
• Understanding and assisting managers to undertake KPMG's internal risk management and client engagement management procedures including client acceptance, continuance and engagement procedures
• Keeping up to date with all industry specific issues and circumstances which affect your clients
• Developing internal audit strategies which address all internal audit, client service and project management issues, in accordance with the KPMG internal audit methodology
• Delivering against those audit strategies
• Recognising where specialists are required and involving other KPMG staff, managing their input to the client
• Reviewing the audit evidence obtained ensuring it is sufficient in line with International Internal Audit (IIA) and PSIAS (Public Sector Internal Audit) Standards and KPMG methodology
• Conducting meetings with clients to explain audit findings and drafting and reviewing reports
• Reporting to managers/senior managers and partners/directors all salient points arising from assignments
• Assisting with the  production of quarterly Audit Committee papers
• Assisting with the setting of budgets for engagements and monitoring delivery against the budget
• Ensuring work in progress is monitored and cont

You will be a Senior Manager within our Tech Transformation Practice (aligned to WAM Consulting) and will be helping both grow our business and ensure our teams deliver high quality advice to clients. You should expect to be involved in a wide range of challenging client engagements across the WAM value chain for clients from across the ecosystem. As a Senior Manager you will be expected to lead on the delivery of key client work items such as leading programmes or being responsible for building KPMG IP. 

It is also expected that you will lead and manage more junior members of the KPMG team as part of project delivery. You will be an example to more junior members of staff who will look to you for advice, guidance and development support.   

As a Senior Manager it is likely that you will also be required to support Directors and Partners with business development activity such as helping with proposition development, proposals, RFP responses and pipeline management.

In addition to supporting the build out of the client proposition for technology, you will also be expected to support the development of the practice in a broader sense, such as through the development and nurturing of junior talent, training, internal communications and contribution to the positive culture and supportive working environment.
