The Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG) at KPMG UK (ca. 400 FTEs) provide in-depth advice on strategic, financial, regulatory and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Power & Utilities, Transport, Social Infrastructure, Government, Major Projects, in the UK and Europe. Our work includes market and policy design, economic and regulatory analysis, deal structuring and execution, as well as strategic and transaction advice to enable private and public capital to fund infrastructure. We work closely with other functions within KPMG to advise clients on due diligence, transactions and valuations.

 

Power & Utilities (P&U), led by Dr Matt Firla-Cuchra, counts c85 FTEs is the largest business area of IAG and encompasses work for major clients in the sector, including all UK utilities as well as some of the largest energy and water companies in Europe and beyond. We provide in-depth strategy, market, regulatory, cost assessment, corporate finance, transaction and energy transition advice to players and investors in the utilities sector. Our work combines elements of policy, finance, strategy and economics to assist our clients in structuring investments, securing financing, supporting regulatory regimes for the benefit of customers as well as maximising shareholder value. KPMG has recently developed Global Payroll Manager (GPM) which is a fully automated web-based global payroll solution allowing organisations to better manage cross border payroll compliance, management reporting, recharges and internal control requirements for their globally mobile workforce. GPM, transform assignee demographic data, cash compensation and non-cash benefit data to produce fully reconciled monthly, quarterly and year-end host payroll instructions in both the home and host country of an internationally mobile assignee. This dynamic group using GPM is expected to expand significantly over the next two years and win significant market share.  The team is diverse with an experienced network of professionals from expatriate and employment tax, payroll advisory, technology, data analytics, finance and accounting.


Job Summary  

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the team including oversight of data management including capture, manipulation, formatting, consolidation, validation, reconciliation, storage, analysis and reporting of data sources. Project management and implemention skills to transition new and existing clients into GPM. 

The role would ideally someone with advanced Excel and Access skills. Project management skills are also a key requirement The successful candidate would be able to enhance data capture, manipulate multiple sources of data , improving processes, automate manual tasks, test new processes, reconcile and validate data output. Tax technical knowledge in the global mobility space and cross-border payroll and withholding compliance is also a requirement.

The Responsibilities/Job Description

This role involves working on a range of projects.

The work involves:

  • Developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Interviewing clients to understand activities and value drivers for our clients’ businesses
  • Determining key industry features across varied industries that influence the pricing of transactions
  • Benchmarking market prices across industries and transaction types
  • Documenting and designing pricing policies
  • Drafting transfer pricing reports
  • Supporting clients with tax authority enquiries and Advance Pricing Agreements
  • Involvement in global documentation projects where we prepare transfer pricing reports for clients across multiple jurisdictions
  • Coordinating with KPMG’s transfer pricing, international tax, indirect tax and other teams across the business on a range of topics

The Person

We are looking for candidates with the following skills/experience:

  • Either a CTA, CA, ACA, ACCA qualification or attained a Bachelors or Masters degree in economics, finance, law, accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • Prior transfer pricing experience, preferably including experience of preparing transfer pricing documentation, tax value chain analyses, benchmarking, supporting with tax authority enquiries/Advance Pricing Agreements, project management and managing junior team members
  • Sound judgement, including the ability to identify and evaluate risk issues and know when to involve others.
  • High level of analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice
  • High level of drive and enthusiasm with a positive attitude
  • Good commercial awareness and a desire to develop a technical specialism
  • Ability and willingness to keep up to date technically
  • An appreciation of and/or understanding of ethical/risk issues within a client service environment
  • Strong people skills for engaging with our clients and team members
  • Excellent communication and project management skills

Role summary
