We are looking for a Tax Assistant Manager to provide tax advisory, compliance management and business development services to our clients and targets.
This work would include:

• Being the principal contact with many clients on day to day tax matters and working with managers, senior managers, directors or partners on larger clients• Being involved on tax advisory and planning work on client portfolio and working with senior colleagues and specialists to deliver expertise to the local market
• Assisting with business development and attending client events.  
• Responding appropriately to requests from clients for other KPMG services.  Co-ordinating a number of different teams internally to provide a single point of contact for the client in delivering a comprehensive cross-tax offering.
• Working with the tax computation processing team in the management and delivery of tax compliance work. Monitoring the tax compliance position using tax administration software
• Reviewing corporation tax computations and advising the client on the computational treatment of contentious issues
• Co-ordinating tax payments, loss relief, capital allowances, group relief and other claims
• Delegating delivery of work to junior colleagues whilst maintaining control of quality and timetables.
• Coaching and developing more junior members of staff
• Maintaining strong financial management of client accounts. For example making sure that fees are raised regularly and identifying situations where overruns can be billed
• Keeping internal control records up to date and ensuring compliance with quality control procedures

The Individual:


• Qualified (ACA or CTA or equivalent)
• Sound knowledge of UK corporate taxation and preferably awareness of international tax issues• Sound knowledge of accountancy principles, in particular accounting for tax (including deferred taxation and accounts disclosures)
• Strong time and task management skills.  Able to remain calm when under pressure and meet deadlines
• Sustains a high level of drive, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work
• Monitors and upholds high quality of service and products to clients (internal and external).  A practical approach to problems with client focus and commercial awareness
• Takes personal responsibility and accountability for own work.  Continuously learns from experiences. Seeks out feedback and development opportunities

Overview 

KPMG Managed Services provide an innovative and cost-effective solution to the delivery of large-scale review and/or processing activity across multiple industries, geographies and processes.  The Managed Services operation is experienced in, but not limited to, remediation, complaint handling, claims processing, service delivery and conduct risk reviews.  

We bring together KPMG subject matter expertise, highly skilled operational resource and, where required, proprietary technology assets, providing clients with a single joined-up approach. 

Role Description 

 

  • Operational delivery of a MS engagement, either on a large engagement as a deputy role under an Senior Operations Manager, or on a small (complex or simple) engagement as the lead Operations role.  

  • Responsible for managing the mobilisation of new engagements as well as the ongoing delivery of established engagements.   

  • Manages a team of up to 50+ people, working closely with offshore peers where relevant. 

  • Acting as first point of contact for day to day client queries, as well as planning and preparing material for regular weekly and monthly meetings 

  • Proactively work with several internal functions e.g. People Support, Planning and Insight to ensure successful delivery. 

Deliverables 

 

  • Ensure that Managed Services principles are applied to engagement to deliver successful and well-controlled outcomes. 

  • Ensure onshore and offshore teams are resourced with sufficient well-trained and well-motivated staff performing to their potential in line with current and predicted operational needs throughout the lifecycle of the project and in line with changing requirements. 

  • Act as day to day contact for client relationship activities and provide input, preparation and support to reporting as appropriate. 

  • Maintenance of Service Level Agreements in engagement (onshore and offshore), ensuring the client’s interest is protected at all times in complying with statutory regulations and legislation, whilst delivering on Managed Services and wider KPMG goals.  

  • Liaison with experts and stakeholders from within the Firm to achieve exceptional quality standards across the operation, including subject matter experts and proprietary technology owners.  

  • Identify, diagnose and oversee solutions to reduce sub-optimal business performance.
