Tax and Legal Technology Team

We are a team of 300+ technologists providing technology enablement services and solutions across the Tax and Legal business. This business has 2,500 tax & legal professionals covering multiple disciplines. We serve many thousands of clients and private individuals by providing a modern, market-leading suite of technology solutions that provide an efficient digital experience from routine to complex tax advice depending on client’s situation.

Tax is highlighted frequently as an industry where generative AI will have a significant impact on how services are provided. You will be working as a team at the forefront of navigating that change and redefining the way in which tax is determined in the UK and globally, making sure people and companies pay the right amount of tax with the minimum amount of effort.

The Engineering department is made up of Product Owners, Business Analysts, multi-disciplinary Engineering teams (approximately 160 Software, QA and Cloud Operations engineers) and IT Service delivery professionals working on a large portfolio of systems used to improve productivity and solve key business problems across Tax & Legal. We also build cutting edge web portals for clients to interact with KPMG, maximising collaboration and ensuring seamless delivery of information to our clients.

The KPMG financial services tax team is a fast-growing part of the KPMG tax practice. We are looking for

excellent candidates who are seeking a dynamic and challenging working environment within a strong

supportive leadership team.  

As a result of growth in our business, we have a number of roles across our Financial Services Operational Taxes

team, which has a diverse client base spanning the FS sector - providing services to banks, custodians, brokers,

asset managers, alternative investors, wealth and hedge asset managers and global institutional investors such

as pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across our FS and Asset Management tax teams or to

specialise in operational taxes.

The Responsibilities: The role involves a mixture of both compliance and advisory responsibilities, with specific duties including:

• Developing and maintaining a high level of technical knowledge across operational taxes and related

areas.

• Supporting the management of client relationships and projects and becoming a focal point of contact

for clients within operational taxes.

• Understanding our client's business and working with teams across KPMG to identify areas for the

provision of operational tax and other services.

• Developing and advising on cutting edge client propositions.
• Being involved in business development and proposal activity.
• Collaborating with KPMG teams across the UK and globally to provide the highest quality operational

tax support to our clients.

• Participating in the development of new client propositions, which will include working with technology

teams to develop new solutions, taking these to market and building the delivery model to ensure

the highest quality services are provided.

• Being an advocate for KPMG and the operational taxes team and helping us grow the business

through the delivery of relevant and high-quality services to our clients.

The Person:  

The successful candidates are likely to have some or all of the following skills:

• Evidence of deep technical ability relating to tax or financial services – e.g., this might be a

qualification in tax, audit, finance, law, regulation or significant practical experience gained in an

industry role.

• Practical experience of dealing with operational taxes within a Financial Services context –

candidates with industry or professional services

To act as the primary point of contact for assigned internal client group (Super Service Line, Function or a subset within one of these areas: “internal client”), managing and delivering an outstanding HR business service to clients.  Also acts as a key facilitator and enabler of the matrixed organisation and a driver of change.

This is a varied role that will allow the job holder to lead various aspects of the monthly payroll run along with performance management responsibilities for some of the payroll team.  KPMG payroll pays almost 17,000 people each month and the Team Leader is a critical part of ensuring our colleagues are paid accurately and on time.

As part of the Finance team, the Payroll Department is responsible for the regular monthly payment of over 16,500 employees based in the UK.  Payroll department has 12 permanent staff dealing with the payment of employees from all of KPMG’s UK offices. 

As Digital Lead of the Create Digital Team, you will collaborate with the Design and Operations Managers to support and consult on creative digital solutions. With a passion for new technologies, functional digital design, and a strong UX/UI and prototyping background, you'll lead the UK and India teams in delivering exceptional user experiences for KPMG.

Focused on understanding user needs and behaviors, you’ll inform product strategy and design while ensuring high-quality, user-first outcomes. You will work closely with the KGS digital team to ensure a seamless design and development process, holding the team accountable for quality and timely delivery. Strong relationship-building with UK business leaders and cross-location mentoring is essential for delivering top-tier digital services. The role requires the ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
