A key focus for KPMG’s GCT team is to help multinational groups and financial services clients manage their global tax compliance, reporting and statutory accounting obligations, through outsourcing, co-sourcing, transformation and technology. Our Corporate Tax Compliance business is made up of a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Corporate Tax Compliance specialists working with our cutting-edge technology platform and our advisory teams to provide a first-class service to our diverse client base which includes global and large domestic compliance clients with complex and interesting tax profiles. We are growing quickly, so it’s an exciting time to join the team.

We are now looking for talented Managers. The successful candidate will have good UK Corporate Tax Compliance experience, be able to build strong relationships, develop junior staff and provide excellent client service.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of clients and take responsibility for ensuring the tax computations are prepared to a high standard, on a timely basis and finalised and submitted to HMRC within agreed deadlines.
• Ensuring that clients are kept up to date on developments within Corporate Tax that may affect their businesses, including the implications of new legislation.
• Oversee the work of junior colleagues, providing coaching and technical guidance as part of the overall review process.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues and opportunities, reviewing technical analysis and involving specialists as appropriate.
• Respond to client requests for ad hoc technical advice and working with KPMG specialist teams to deliver an excellent and co-ordinated service to the client.
• Build and develop positive constructive relationships within your team, across KPMG and your client base.
• Opportunities to support clients with their group reporting needs and support with tax audit work.
• Manage aspects of the team’s operations and performance including coaching, career management and technical support for other team members.
• Follow KPMG best practice and policy.
• Build the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Strong UK Corporation Tax experience including reviewing computations and returns and acting as a client liaison through the compliance process.
• Knowledge of tax accounting (FRS 102. IFRS desirable but not essential).
• Ability to analyse problems, identify core issues and demonstrate curiosity around new ideas approaches and perspectives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication skills.

We are looking for a Director to lead our Commercial Projects business focussed on the NHS. The team sits at the cross section of KPMG leading healthcare advisory business, and its Deal Advisory capability. The Director will focus on the market need for NHS organisations at all levels to increase their commercial focus and organisation in areas such as generating additional income, accessing additional capacity through deals with the independent sector or utilising their asset base better. This may include advice around partnerships, joint ventures, group structures and significant contracts. We provide in-depth strategic and technical advice on strategy and business planning and analysis, funding and financing of projects, regulatory finance, corporate finance, regulatory policy as well as in other areas to help our clients create value for both shareholders and customers. Our work combines elements of policy, finance, economic and strategy to assist our clients in structuring investments, securing financing, supporting regulatory regimes for the benefit of customers as well as maximising shareholder value. We are widely recognised by many industry stakeholders as market leaders influencing the future of the utilities sector.

Our P&U business is currently divided into 7 practices: Finance, Projects, Strategy, Water regulation,  Energy regulation, Transactions, and Benchmarking, and is continuously expanding with double digit growth over the last 10 years. The Role

We are looking for a Manager to support the fast growing Power & Utilities Projects team covering water and energy infrastructure including new nuclear generation, onshore and offshore networks, interconnectors, and other major assets.

The Projects business is focussed on designing new markets and advising on in-house and competitive delivery models for major infrastructure projects and programmes.  We advise companies, developers, bidders and regulators on all aspects of delivering major infrastructure assets and competitive procurements. Some of the projects we have advised on include Hinkley Point C, potential investor in Sizewell C, Thames Tideway Tunnel, Hydrogen Transport Business Model, multiple Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) projects, OFTOs, Special Infrastructure Projects Regime (SIPR), Cap and Floor Interconnectors, Competitively Appointed Transmission Owners (CATOs) and new nuclear projects (NNPs). Our clients are typically based in the UK and across Europe.

Services provided by the P&U Projects team include:

─ Strategic and policy advise to major developers, bidders and other stakeholders, including government bodies and regulators on delivering utilities infrastructure and in particular large projects

─ Design of bespoke delivery models—this includes funding models (such as RAB, PPA, CfD), financing strategy and structures, Government or third party support packages, and State aid / UK subsidy control approval strategy and applications.

This area continues to grow and we are looking for a high quality candidate to support our Power & Utilities business with a particular focus on giving strategic advice on the energy transition to our clients in the energy and water sectors premised on net zero.

The Role

• You will have specific responsibilities for contributing towards the team’s energy networks business.
• Working closely with sector and subject matter experts you will have an in-depth understanding of Ofgem’s RIIO price controls and its wider regulatory framework.
• You will build relationships with key clients across the sector, as well as with other advisors.
• The projects that you will advise on will be high profile and varied and would be expected to include advising on regulatory strategy, all the core elements of regulated price controls, regulatory policy developments, including the evolving institutional arrangements within the sector and in support and provision of energy regulation expertise in terms of major transactions.
• There is no ‘typical project’. You will need to apply a structured strategic approach to problem solving, drawing on established economic principles, while having the capacity to think creatively.
• The work will include a combination of report drafting, economic (including quantitative) analysis, and engaging with clients. As a Manager you will be expected to manage projects from conception to completion.
