The team

KPMG's Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) are looking for an experienced Manager to join us in the Infrastructure, Government & Healthcare part of the firm. Our engagements span Education, Healthcare, Housing, Local and Central Government and KPMG is a market leader in most of these sectors. IGH is an area of the firm with tremendous growth potential and GRCS is an integral part of our Advisory practice. We provide services relating to internal audit, internal control, corporate governance, risk management, funding, grants and related assurance projects. Clients are based in the public sector and our services deliver added value to clients using modern control assessment, risk management and audit techniques focusing on strategic, management and operational issues as well as financial management and reporting controls. We also work closely with other advisory teams including our colleagues in Technology Risk and Cyber Risk to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice and assurance.

• Providing internal audit services on both outsourced and co-sourced contractual basis
• Creating annual internal audit plans for clients
• Managing and directly delivering individual and /or a programme of internal audit projects which includes planning, review, quality assurance and reporting
• Developing audit strategies which address all audit, client service and project management issues, in accordance with the KPMG internal audit methodology
• Recognising where specialists are required and involving other KPMG staff, managing their input to the client
• Reviewing the audit evidence obtained ensuring it is sufficient in line with IIA Standards and KPMG methodology
• Retaining management responsibility for a portfolio of clients, maintaining relationships with senior KPMG and client staff and is responsible for the financial performance and delivery of these accounts
• Risk management, governance and internal audit advisory services
• Risk identification workshops and control reviews
• Delivering control and risk training
• Compliance internal audits
• Assessing effectiveness of internal audit functions, audit committees and boards
• Working with members of other KPMG advisory teams
• Demonstrating a detailed understanding of how current and emerging legal, regulatory, governance, risk management, auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards affect their clients
• Undertaking KPMG's internal risk management and client engagement management procedures including client acceptance, continuance and engagement procedures
• Keeping up to date with all industry specific issues and circumstances which affect their clients
• Conducting meetings with clients to explain internal audit findings and drafting and reviewing reports
• Reporting to Partners / Directors all salient points arising from assignments
• Producing quarterly Audit Committee papers
• Setting budgets for engagement and monitoring delivery against the budget
• Ensuring work in progress is monitored and controlled with fees being raised promptly
• Identifying additional fee billing opportunities
• Planning and allocating staff resources to fulfil business requirements
• Setting objectives with the team, and providing support and feeding back on performance

Our Dispute Advisory team helps clients to establish the facts in relation to an incident, loss or misconduct and then to remediate and recover value. We are experienced in managing diverse issues including fraud and misconduct, regulatory compliance, risk frameworks and modelling and much more. 

As a Director and Engagement Leader, we expect you to lead and successfully deliver challenging and complex engagements.  You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage stakeholders and deliver quality solutions to our clients. You will be expected to originate opportunities through both internal and external relationships and take the lead on business development activities, including marketing, knowledge sharing and practice development. 

You will have a primary focus on developing and leading Dispute Advisory services, although you may also be involved in other types of dispute engagements.  You will be responsible for leading an area of Dispute Advisory (to be determined based on skillset/experience) and originating work.

We are a dynamic team of passionate and highly skilled professionals, working hard to support our audit teams in the field to get things right first time.   You will work closely with Managers and Senior Managers in the team as well as colleagues across the wider Audit Practice.

Overview

This exciting role is within our South Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in our South Central or Southwest offices.

Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and inbound groups across a range of sectors. 

Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2).

We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time.

KPMG’s Fixed Asset Tax Services Team (capital allowances) is made up of tax advisers, accountants, chartered surveyors and ex-HMRC inspectors who deliver expert advice to a broad range of clients across almost every industry sector. As one of the largest teams in the industry, our continued investment and desire to grow means that we seek a capital allowances specialist in Scotland.

Our team works with clients ranging from owner-managed businesses to large multinational organisations. We are seeking a Senior Manager to join our Scotland team who has a background in capital allowances, tax or accounting. The work is varied and will be across a number of sectors.
