You will be working on a range of projects in the water and energy network sectors. Your work will focus on cost assessment.

Our clients seek expert advice relating to cost and performance benchmarking. There is no ‘typical project’. You will need to apply a structured strategic approach to problem solving, drawing on established economic principles, while having the capacity to think creatively.

Our approach to benchmarking can involve econometric models comparing costs across companies. We also support clients through cost benefit analysis and other benchmarking approaches, such as unit cost models.

The projects that you will advise on will be high profile and varied. For example, in recent years we have advised nearly every water and energy network company on their price control reviews, been the lead advisor on several CMA appeals, and advised on major transactions within the sectors. We have the skills and capabilities to be involved in every major development within the sector.

The work will include a combination of report drafting, data collection/verification, economic analysis, econometric analysis, and engaging with clients.

You will also take a key role in developing the skills of more junior staff.

Role Overview:

KPMG UK is seeking a Senior MDM Architecture to join our CDO Advisory Practice within Technology & Data, specializing in developing and implementing architecture at enterprise scale. In this role, you will lead the architectural aspects of impactful MDM projects in our largest clients from strategy through to implementation utilising our technology alliance partners and global delivery hubs as appropriate. You will bring your continually building technical knowledge to our go-to-market propositions in this area.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead MDM Architecture projects and workstreams
- Lead on MDM architecture projects from design to implementation across our clients
- Provide MDM thought leadership to client stakeholders, advising on MDM architecture and tooling strategies that support their digital transformation strategies
- Be the technical expert in the room, advising clients on MDM deployment and tooling strategies.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration
- Establish the tools and accelerators that make our approach to the delivery of MDM projects efficient and innovative.
- Establish the KPMG MDM architecture blueprint. Work with our technology Alliance partners to establish a technology overlay to this.
- Establish a collaborative relationship with other KPMG member firms where MDM capability is prevalent. Work to align our MDM architecture propositions and offerings.
Business Development & Practise Building
- Contribute to RFP responses where MDM architecture is a component part, bringing the best of KPMG to answer the client challenge.
- Support the build out and scale of the MDM architecture capability across the firm in line with projected demand. Including the build out of capability in our KPMG delivery

Assisting firms in understanding the impact of prudential developments (e.g. CRDV/CRRII, Basel 3.1, Solvency II etc.)
Advising firms on mechanisms to optimise their balance sheet and achieve efficient capital structures
Advising firms on their legal entity structures and booking models and the regulatory implications of changes to their structures
Providing prudential regulatory support, advice and due diligence on transactions
Assisting with applications to the Financial Services Authority for Part IV permissions
Practically supporting firms in developing the ICAAP, ILAAP, ORSA processes
Managing Section 166 reviews and reporting to the PRA and FCA
Advising firms on managing their relationship with PRA and FCA
Delivery of client engagements including ownership of workstreams on larger engagements and leading small and medium sized teams.
Taking a leading role in the identification of business development opportunities and assisting with the preparation of client proposals
Mentoring and coaching of other less experienced team members
Support KPMG's efforts in relation to sales and marketing, Research and Development and Knowledge Management

Qualifications and Skills

Understanding of banks or insurance business models and commercial drivers.
Understanding of and experience in the PRA rules and guidance, particularly concerning prudential regulation
The ability to be flexible and work across a number of sectors within the financial services industry
Industry recognised qualification (e.g. CISA, FPC, IMC, CFA etc.) desirable but not essential.
Solutions-driven mindset and problem-solving skills.
Effective oral and written communicator (the role will involve report writing).
Proficient in excel (macros, VBA etc.)
Planning and project management skills.
Proven ability to achieve results, even when faced with obstacles or setbacks.
Positive and flexible attitude to work and a willingness to embrace new initiatives.
Networking, influencing and stakeholder management.
Confident and highly motivated individual.

Experience and Background

Relevant financial services experience with a prudential regulatory, treasury or ratings focus either as part of a financial services firm, ratings agency, consultancy or PRA/FCA
Experience of banks’ business models and excellent technical knowledge of prudential regulatory issues (including: CRD, capital requirements, capital, liquidity, treasury, PRA authorisations etc).
Understanding of key commercial and regulatory developments and key current issues facing clientsAbility to produce and deliver high quality technical analysis, using excellent oral / written communication skills and demonstrating breadth and depth of knowledge
Strong team player, driven, self-starter.
Graduate calibre.
