The Opportunity:

This is an exceptional opportunity to further develop your technical and consulting skills within a leading global firm. As a MI & Analytics Assistant Manager, you will:

Work closely with diverse teams across our learning business, providing data-driven solutions to our clients and learning business.
Build relationships with our clients and become a key reporting contact for some of our larger managed learning services clients.
Become an SME for data and reporting within our business and act as MI workstreams lead on projects.
Support senior team members in presenting deliverables to clients.
Contribute to our business development initiatives and growth aspirations.
Play a vital role in the development of the team by coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

Your work will be varied and impactful, including:

Designing, developing, and maintaining a suite of reports for key stakeholders and clients, covering daily, weekly, and monthly reporting cycles.
Creating and maintaining bespoke client dashboards using visualisation and analytical software, predominantly Power BI.
Conducting ad-hoc analysis and providing data to enable informed decision-making, with a focus on transitioning these into long-term reporting capabilities.
Managing data quality initiatives to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all reports.
Developing tactical solutions to automate reporting processes and building robust data models to support analytics deliverables.
Understanding the relationship between business processes and data flows and working with stakeholders to resolve reporting issues.
Managing client access to external reporting, ensuring compliance with security and contractual requirements.

Leadership & Management:

The Analyst will be responsible for knowledge sharing and promotion of best practices within the team and to junior colleagues.

Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:

The nature of this role will have an important client facing aspect, so strong relationship building skills will be required.

Essential skills & experience

Demonstratable experience in a reporting development role, ideally within a Management Information, Business Intelligence or Data and Analytics team.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot

The Role

KPMG has one of the leading Indirect Tax practices in the UK. We work as a national practice providing advice and support in all aspects of Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs Duty, Green taxes) to a broad range of business sectors including large multi-nationals, household name retailers and public sector organisations.

KPMG’s Financial Services Indirect Tax practice currently services a broad range of clients, providing both VAT and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) services. As VAT and IPT are real time, transactional taxes we work closely with our clients, building up a deep knowledge of their activities and how their businesses operate.

The team undertakes both compliance and advisory services. Over the last 12 months the team has been successful in winning a number of new, exciting projects. These projects include working with some of the largest investment banks, insurers, asset managers and fintechs In the market, we continue to see strong demand from clients looking for indirect tax support.

In order to deliver the projects already won and the additional projects we expect to win, we are looking to recruit motivated individuals who have existing Indirect Tax experience, are interested in the financial services sector, would like the opportunity to assume responsibility for client delivery and are keen to build their knowledge of businesses operationally.

Responsibilities

Providing indirect tax and advisory compliance services to a range of clients
Supporting senior members of the team in the delivery of client projects
Day-to-day, direct contact with clients and developing long lasting, positive relationships;
Supporting senior members of the team in business development initiatives;
Working with and developing Tax Assistants within the team;
Helping to identify opportunities to implement and develop technology solutions to deliver compliance and advisory projects.
Working with and contributing to the diverse and friendly team.

The Individual

Personal and technical skills required are as follows:

Existing VAT / IPT knowledge or skills that can be transferred easily;
A commitment to develop existing Indirect Tax knowledge / skills
An eagerness to develop wider skills e.g. communication, networking, business development;
An interest in learning about financial services and the businesses that operate in the sector
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
An ability to manage and prioritise work;
Attention to detail;
An ability to establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues internally and with clients
Working with clients to identify issues and opportunities to enhance their Indirect Tax processes
