Tax Transformation ERP – Manager

We are looking for talented Managers to join us in Canada Square, London (although flexibility on location will be considered) with experience in a broad range of areas including:

• Tax transformation experience – the ability to analyse tax requirements, design tax processes and implement tax technology solutions
• Strong and practical ERP finance and tax experience, specifically in SAP S4 HANA, Oracle or Workday, as a foundation for tax processes
• Experience of design and configuration of ERP systems for tax purposes
• Experience of implementing VAT determination engines and bolt-ons, such as Vertex O-Series, Thomson Reuters OneSource Determination, or Meridian VAT Add-On
• Tax technology implementation experience, including requirements gathering from a tax, IT and users and creating and reviewing design documentation
• Tax process knowledge, for example indirect tax, direct tax and/or transfer pricing
• Familiarity with end-to-end finance processes (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Record-to-report) and their integration with tax
• Advising on appropriate tax technology to support compliance and reporting processes
• Project management
• Client and engagement management

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Project managing the overall delivery of global and large tax transformation and technology projects, often as part of a wider finance transformation program
• Helping clients to design, build and deploy ERP and tax automation solutions which are designed for Tax
• Supporting our clients understand the importance of Tax, the optimal way to address tax requirements in their countries and the value that it can bring
• Working together with our other Tax Transformation colleagues as well as other groups in KPMG such as Consulting
• Helping clients develop robust global governance and process frameworks
• Develop our service offerings and service delivery models
• Establishing and maintaining strong client relationships with both existing and new clients
• Line manage assistant managers and graduate trainees and overseeing output of offshore resource in order to deliver client projects;
• Identify opportunities to identify additional services that the client may need and liaise with subject specialists.
• Coaching and technical support for other team members.

Global Compliance & Transformation (our Team)

At KPMG we have re-imagined careers in Global Compliance & Transformation (GCT). A key focus for KPMG’s GCT team is to help multinational groups and financial services clients manage their global tax compliance, reporting and statutory accounting obligations, through outsourcing, co-sourcing, transformation and technology. 

Role

We are seeking a US Manager within our Global Mobility Services (GMS) team to deliver US tax compliance services across a variety of clients.

Role and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day management of US tax compliance tasks, serving as the central coordination point between the client and internal teams

• Review of US tax returns, and review of US tax equalisation calculations
• Conduct US arrival/departure briefings
• Review of various payroll reporting forms related to business travellers to the US, including Form 1042, Form 1042-S, and Form 8233
• Review and support clients with US payroll reporting requirements including year-end calculations
• Contributing to client service teams, helping ensure they function smoothly and effectively
• Preparation of written US advice for clients, and helping to advise clients on US GMS issues
• Project management of advisory projects carried out for clients
• Ensuring clients are provided with recurring updates of tax compliance status and adherence to SLAs
• Managing, coaching and training more junior team members
• Coordination with overseas member firms to provide cross border advice and tax compliance issues
• Responsible for monitoring and ensuring accuracy in client invoices

As a member of the GBS team, you will be primarily focussed on working with clients in the public sector i.e. Central Government, Healthcare, Higher Education, Infrastructure, Local Government and Policing. You will be focused on the delivery of market leading GBS solutions to the public sector including GBS Strategy, Target Op Model design, GBS Transition/Implementation and Business Process Outsourcing advisory.

Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG), a part of KPMG Deal Advisory in the UK, consists of c. 400 professionals and is widely recognised as a leading independent business, financial and regulatory adviser in the infrastructure space. We provide in-depth advice on strategic, financial, regulatory and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Transport, Power & Utilities, and Social Infrastructure in the UK and globally. Our work includes market and policy design, economic and regulatory analysis, deal structuring and execution, as well as strategic and transaction advice to enable private and public capital to fund infrastructure. We work closely with other functions within KPMG to advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, valuations, tax, accounting, and due diligence.
Power & Utilities (P&U) is the largest business area of the IAG and encompasses work for major clients in the sector, including all UK utilities as well as some of the largest energy and water companies in Europe and beyond. This area continues to grow and we are looking for a high quality candidate to support our Power & Utilities business with a particular focus on giving strategic advice on the energy transition to our clients in the energy and water sectors premised on net zero.

The Role

• You will have specific responsibilities for contributing towards the team’s energy networks business.
• Working closely with sector and subject matter experts you will have an in-depth understanding of Ofgem’s RIIO price controls and its wider regulatory framework.
• You will build relationships with key clients across the sector, as well as with other advisors.
• The projects that you will advise on will be high profile and varied and would be expected to include advising on regulatory strategy, all the core elements of regulated price controls, regulatory policy developments, including the evolving institutional arrangements within the sector and in support and provision of energy regulation expertise in terms of major transactions.
• There is no ‘typical project’. You will need to apply a structured strategic approach to problem solving, drawing on established economic principles, while having the capacity to think creatively.
• The work will include a combination of report drafting, economic (including quantitative) analysis, and engaging with clients. As a Manager you will be expected to manage projects from conception to completion.

• You will need to be comfortable managing, coaching, and mentoring junior staff on specific projects.
