The role

An exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Scotland Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team as a Manager, based in our Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen office.  Our client base and the services we provide are varied, so you've got a great opportunity to help shape how you spend your time.  Key aspects of the role will involve:

• Being responsible for delivery of the corporation tax compliance work on a portfolio of clients and working with Senior Managers, Directors and Partners on our larger client accounts
• Being involved in tax advisory projects including advice closely linked to the compliance work such as on controlled foreign companies and the corporate interest restriction, as well as assisting on ad hoc advisory projects
• Being responsible for the delivery of tax accounting work and working with Senior Managers and Directors on tax reporting work
• Ensuring our clients are kept up to date with emerging corporate and wider tax developments impacting their business
• Supervising the work of junior members of staff and providing coaching to support their development
• Being responsible for and reporting to Directors and Partners on client account management, including complying with appropriate quality and risk management procedures and financial management
• Support the leadership with business development opportunities

The role would involve a mixture of tax compliance, reporting and advisory work and there would be flexibility around the weighting of time to these different components of the role based on your experience and areas of interest.

The person

• Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent

• UK corporation tax experience

The Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG), a part of KPMG Deal Advisory (DA), consists of ca. 400 professionals in the UK and is widely recognised as a leading independent financial, business and regulatory adviser in the infrastructure space. IAG has won many awards, including Financial Advisor of the Year (Infrastructure Journal) for several years. The IAG provides in-depth advice on strategic, financial, regulatory and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Power & Utilities, Transport and Social Infrastructure in the UK and globally. Our work includes market and policy design, economic and regulatory analysis, deal structuring and execution, as well as strategic and transaction advice to enable private and public capital to fund infrastructure.

Power & Utilities (P&U) is one of the largest business units in the IAG with c80 professionals. It encompasses work for large corporates in the sector (energy, water and other utilities), as well as financial investors and infrastructure funds. We provide in-depth advice on corporate finance and corporate financial management, regulatory finance, regulatory policy, business and financial planning, cost assessment and benchmarking, as well as transactions and energy transition.

Our Transaction Services team collaborate with organisations of all shapes and sizes across a broad range of Mergers and Acquisitions activity. We are an integrated team of specialists helping clients focus on the key questions during the critical stages of planning and executing a deal, creating and enhancing value.

We are seeking a talented individual to manage work streams on client engagements and to take a pro-active business development role by building relationships with clients. Typically, client engagements would cover at least one of the following areas: Target Operating Model Design, Organisational Redesign, Financial Recovery Programmes, Service Improvement, Back-Office Transformation and Digital Transformation.

You would need knowledge and skills in Behavioural Change Management, Organisation Development and ideally in one other area:

• Behavioural change management: Ensuring organisations realise the benefits of large-scale change projects by embedding new behaviours and minimising underperformance during the change
• Organisation development: Target operating model development, organisation design, role clarity, performance management, organisational culture, employee development and reward/recognition
• HR Transformation: Creating cost effective, integrated HR functions that contribute to the delivery of business strategy
• Talent Management: Helping clients identify, retain and develop talent, designing reward strategies/incentive schemes and performance management frameworks/processes
• Workforce Intelligence: Helping organisations get the most from their workforce, including strategic and operational workforce planning, terms and conditions of employment, TUPE, plus reward and incentive management
