KPMG is enhancing its Tax and Legal practice by expanding our ability to offer support to our clients in connection to their pensions obligations.  Our pensions team work alongside our 2,400 plus Tax and Legal colleagues and the new roles we are adding to the team will be focussed on delivering advice across our client base to advise them on matters relating to their pension provision and other pensions related issues relating to ongoing operations and transactions.

 

We are now looking for talented and experienced Consultant to join our pensions actuarial team. You will be responsible for delivering high quality actuarial pensions advice in relation to defined benefit pension schemes in the private sector.

 

You will be responsible for will work closely with the senior members of the team in this service line, which will involve providing:

  • Strategic journey planning, risk management aiming for self-sufficiency or buy out and endgame options including use of surplus.
  • Strategic funding advice to sponsors and advice on compliance with DB funding code.
  • Pension due diligence on mergers and acquisitions
  • Provision of member education and communication
  • Advice on benefit change, benefit design and implementation
  • Advice on good governance and compliance
  • Pensions accounting advice

The Role

KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables) and Chemicals. As our clients are facing unprecedented change with the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty our ENR tax and legal practice is growing significantly.  

Our clients comprise some of the largest global ENR clients, covering both UK headquartered and inbound groups. Our work covers deal advisory support, international tax and domestic tax advice.  A successful candidate would have opportunities to work across these areas.

Our Deal Advisory Tax work includes advisory services across the whole deal spectrum including company/sell-side vendor assist, refinancing and due diligence projects, to buy-side due diligence and structuring. We help our clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions, with a continuous focus on maximising value throughout the investment cycle. Working collaboratively across the KPMG network, our work often involves advice on multiple countries, taxes, and work streams.

Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, refinancing and leasing as well as the impact of windfall taxes

The KPMG financial services tax team is a fast-growing part of the KPMG tax practice. We are looking for

As a result of growth in our business, we have a number of roles across our Financial Services Operational Taxes

team, which has a diverse client base spanning the FS sector - providing services to banks, custodians, brokers,

The Responsibilities: The role involves a mixture of both compliance and advisory responsibilities, with specific duties including:

  • Developing and maintaining a high level of technical knowledge across operational taxes and related

areas.

  • Supporting the management of client relationships and projects and becoming a focal point of contact

for clients within operational taxes.

  • Understanding our client's business and working with teams across KPMG to identify areas for the

provision of operational tax and other services.

  • Developing and advising on cutting edge client propositions.
  • Being involved in business development and proposal activity.
  • Collaborating with KPMG teams across the UK and globally to provide the highest quality operational

tax support to our clients.

  • Participating in the development of new client propositions, which will include working with technology

teams to develop new solutions, taking these to market and building the delivery model to ensure

the highest quality services are provided.

  • Being an advocate for KPMG and the operational taxes team and helping us grow the business

through the delivery of relevant and high-quality services to our clients.


The Person:  

The successful candidates are likely to have some or all of the following skills:

 

  • Evidence of deep technical ability relating to tax or financial services – e.g., this might be a

qualification in tax, audit, finance, law, regulation or significant practical experience gained in an

industry role.

  • Practical experience of dealing with operational taxes within a Financial Services context –

candidates with industry or professional services
