KPMG has one of the leading Indirect Tax practices in the UK. We work as a national practice providing advice and support in all aspects of Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs Duty, Green taxes) to a broad range of business sectors including large multi-nationals, household name retailers and public sector organisations. The Indirect Tax practice is a fast-growing and dynamic business, currently with 13 partners and approximately 220 professional staff in the UK.

This Manager role is Financial Services focussed. KPMG has one of the largest Financial Services Indirect Tax departments, advising banking, insurance, investment management, asset backed finance, real estate and private equity clients across a broad range of issues.

The Manager will be responsible for ensuring the quality of delivery at this specialist level and will be actively involved in managing the performance of junior colleagues within the team.

KPMG’s Strategy & Performance Transformation practice is looking for exceptional candidates for an Assistant Manager role, with experience in Industrial Markets and Defence (IM&D) across one or more of our core propositions: Enterprise-wide Transformation, Growth Strategy, Cost and Operational Strategy, and Commercial and Operational Due Diligence.

The Strategy & Performance Transformation team is part of KPMG’s rapidly expanding Strategy Group, which delivers value for clients by challenging conventional thinking, bringing deep industry and functional insights and executing with investor-grade rigour. Responsibilities

To be an effective Assistant Manager within our Strategy & Performance Transformation applicants will be expected to:

Liaise effectively with clients while working on engagements and act as an 'ambassador' for KPMG
Design and run small projects and / or large, complex workstreams with limited oversight
Product client-ready deliverables that exceed expectations and require limited review
Develop solutions to complex problems and challenge the thinking of more senior colleagues and clients
Contribute to thought leadership and knowledge management activities
Construct detailed financial / business models performing complex scenario and sensitivity analysis
Ensure the firm's risk management frameworks are adhered to
Be a strong effective team player
Provide timely feedback and coaching to other team members
Support practice development activities to ensure successful delivery of initiatives

The Person

Skills and Experience

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following:

Experience working in a leading strategy house, Big 4 firm, public sector organisation or strategy / development team in industry
Strong foundational understanding of the value drivers within IM&D
Experience of leading project workstreams and take responsibility for small teams
Prior involvement in business development activity and ability to contribute to thought leadership and knowledge management initiatives
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members and broader (internal and external) stakeholders

Technical Skills

Evidence of strong problem-solving & analytical capabilities
Structured thinking skills combined with creativity

Role summary

The Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”) is a key part of KDN and is responsible for managing the organisation’s global legal risk. The OGC is seeking a highly experienced Paralegal who will work directly with OGC team members (including the General Counsel) to provide valuable organisational, technical and administrative support on a mix of corporate and commercial matters. This will include liaising with non-OGC stakeholders, both within KDN and across the wider KPMG organisation, including members of senior management. The successful candidate will support with a wide range of matters, including:

Analysing new requests for support / queries received into the OGC team and taking / following detailed instructions.
Reviewing processes and making suggestions to streamline them to improve efficiencies where appropriate.
Assisting with matter-specific Board resolutions – including coordinating any local counsel review and assisting with execution
Periodic (e.g., quarterly) reach out to local counsel to check if any new (including proposed) legislative updates
Assisting with Board meeting preparations, including scheduling of meetings, collation and circulation of pre-read materials, plus coordination of Board Minutes
Supporting team members in managing all phases of corporate and commercial matters, including ad-hoc projects as needed, administrative tasks and workflow management
Collating, organising and updating transaction and project documents, including version control and scheduling periodic reviews of these as necessary
Supporting with the preparation and maintenance of transaction documents, ensuring accurate record-keeping for completed matters
Conducting legal and factual research as required, summarising findings for lawyers and keeping up to date with relevant legal developments
Assisting with regulatory registrations, filings and related mattersSupport the team with workflow management, and ad-hoc projects as needed
Coordination and collation of team member input on matters where a collective view is required (e.g., comments on / suggested edits for team web page)
