This particular role is for an Assistant Manager or Manager to support a fast-paced, highly technical team in providing bespoke global tax services to major institutional investors and asset managers dealing with publicly traded securities.

Your Role:

• Master Technical Knowledge: Dive deep into the advisory aspect of operational taxes, including global withholding tax, capital gains tax, transfer tax, and related global tax compliance.
• Navigate Global Withholding Tax Relief Opportunities: Learn how clients can access WHT relief by way of ruling applications or tax reclaims under applicable tax treaties, domestic provisions and/or claims under the European Court of Justice.
• Client Relationship Management: Handle large global client relationships and projects with finesse.
• Collaborate Globally: Work closely with KPMG’s extensive network of member firms worldwide.
• Drive Business Development: Participate in business development and proposals to attract new clients.
• Innovate with Technology: Develop new client solutions in collaboration with our technology teams.

• Banking Accounting Advisory (BAA) is a team of Banking and Financial Services technical accounting specialists with extensive experience delivering expert accounting advisory services, financial reporting and regulatory change projects to major Tier-1 global banks, challenger banks and building societies.

• We have deep expertise in complex accounting within the Banking and Financial Services sector such as IFRS 9, hedge accounting, securitisations and other structured transactions, derivatives, and deal accounting for mergers and acquisitions and group reorganisations.

Tax and Legal Technology Team

We are a team of 100+ technologists providing technology enablement services and solutions across the Tax and Legal business. This business has 4,000 tax & legal professionals covering multiple disciplines. We serve many thousands of clients and private individuals by providing a modern, market-leading suite of technology solutions that provide an efficient digital experience from routine to complex tax advice depending on client’s situation.

The team is made up of Product Owners, Business Analysts, multi-disciplinary Engineering teams (approximate 150 Software, QA and Cloud Operations engineers) and IT Service delivery professionals working on a large portfolio of systems used to improve productivity and solve key business problems across Tax & Legal. We also build cutting edge web portals for clients to interact with KPMG, maximising collaboration and ensuring seamless delivery of information to our clients.

The Role:

You will be working in a small team of Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers across a variety of projects for both our clients and our internal professionals. You will be responsible both for the development and delivery of software solutions. Your team will work alongside a Product Owner who will help prioritise deliverables allowing you to focus on creating world-class solutions.

The role can be based anywhere in the UK, though preference will be given to candidates in Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and London. We generally spend two days per week in the office. Remote or part-time workers are welcome to apply.

Whilst there is no expectation of existing knowledge of tax, we would expect you to develop a degree of domain knowledge over time.
