Overview

This exciting role is within our South Region Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance (CTAC) team, based in our Reading office. KPMG’s CTAC team has an immediate need for an Assistant Manager to support delivery of a range of engagements across corporate tax advisory, compliance and related work. The CTAC Reading team has a very strong market reputation working with leading Global clients on a range of tax services. There is a strong pipeline of project and advisory work. Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and large international groups across a range of sectors including TMT, healthcare amongst others. Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2). We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time.

The Role

• Being one of the main points of contact on a portfolio of clients on day-to-day tax matters and working with Partner/Director group, Senior Managers and Managers on our larger client accounts

• Supporting tax advisory projects by providing UK corporation tax input based on experience and researching topics and by working with other areas of tax and our overseas members firms to incorporate their input into our advice

• Ensuring our clients are kept up to date with emerging corporate and wider tax developments and budgets impacting their business

• Supporting the delivery of UK corporation tax compliance services

• Supervising the work of junior members of staff and providing coaching to support their development

• Assisting our Managers and Senior Managers with client account management, including complying with appropriate quality and risk management procedures and financial management

• Support the leadership with business development opportunities

The Person

• Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent

• UK corporation tax experience (preferable)

• Problem solver, identifies core issues, investigates, evaluates, and integrates information

• Communicates with impact, in a way that is open, honest, consistent, and clear

• Sustains a high level of drive, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work

• Takes personal responsibility and accountability for managing own work and juggling

Our Transaction Services practice comprises approximately 500 people across the UK, organised to align to KPMG’s market orientated structure, and is at the heart of the Firm's agenda to increase its penetration of boardrooms and work with clients across the economic and transaction cycle.  Our team works closely with colleagues across Deal Advisory as well as Tax, Audit and other Advisory teams; it is a multi-disciplinary and international environment that sits right at the heart of our One Firm agenda. Our Investigations & Compliance team helps clients to establish the facts in relation to an incident, loss or misconduct and then to remediate and recover value. We are experienced in managing diverse issues including fraud and misconduct, regulatory compliance, risk frameworks and modelling and much more.

As a Senior Manager, we expect you to take a lead role on challenging and complex engagements.  You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage stakeholders and deliver quality solutions to our clients. You will be expected to originate opportunities through both internal and external relationships and take the lead on business development activities, including marketing, knowledge sharing and practice development.
