Role Purpose

The role of the Solution Architect is to help the Firm deliver its business strategy through technology. They must work with technology delivery projects to translate the business requirements into detailed solution architecture designs; ensure that solutions align with the relevant technology and capability roadmaps; ensure that transformation projects deliver the business and technology strategies; influence business and technology stakeholders to adopt the strategic technology solutions; guide technology projects through the Technology Assurance processes and escalate risks, issues and critical dependencies to the appropriate leaders as required to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

You will be required to maintain your core knowledge of wider technology trends and the KPMG technology ecosystem; build conceptual and detailed solution architecture designs; and ensure alignment with the Firm’s technology policies and standards.

Service line Information 

Enterprise-Wide Technology (EWT) is an internally facing, dedicated team of over 450 technologists and other specialists, focused on keeping technology running seamlessly for everyone in KPMG.

The Team

Strategy & Architecture sit within EWT. The team provide technology solutions to the firm, covering Design, Assurance and Strategic Direction to the firm.

Core Knowledge

Extensive Solution Architecture Experience

· Work with Capability CTOs, technical SMEs, and specific projects to analyse and translate business requirements into technical requirements, ensuring that these are feasible

· Maintain a high level of technical knowledge incl. current, emerging and future technology market trends and their impact on the business

· Develop and maintain expert knowledge of KPMG’s technology ecosystem, incl. the main applications and technologies that support one or more KPMG Capabilities, e.g., Tax, Audit, etc.

· Develop and maintain expert knowledge of the Microsoft Dynamics domain.

· Develop and maintain expert knowledge of the Microsoft Dynamics supporting ecosystem. To include; third party applications, data architecture, process automation, integration, MSFT Power Platform etc.

· If required, provide advice to and/or seek to learn from other Member Firms, client teams and/or clients that are seeking to implement or improve their use of Microsoft Dynamics or the supporting CRM/Sales Ecosystem.

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

Manage a portfolio of work, whilst supporting the Solution Architecture team as they work on a diverse range of projects and programs.

· Create and develop the requisite documentation – conceptual and detailed solution architecture design documents.

· Contribute to governance processes where applicable – this will include helping the project navigate the Technology Assurance Process

· Work closely with the Strategy & Architecture team, development teams, other architects and 3rd party suppliers.

· Create & maintain a detailed view of existing architecture in order to help manage the transition to future state architecture.

· Identify business/project risk and mitigate or communicate as necessary.

· Ensure progress updates are communicated to relevant parties both formally and informally.

· Carry out additional duties as may occur from time to time as instructed

Job Description

You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients across UK listed and take on a variety of projects, including corporate tax and multi-jurisdictional international tax structuring, business reorganisation, international expansion, operating model redesign, tax controversy support and responding to ongoing global tax policy change including BEPS 2.0.

The role will suit either a Manager wanting to drive their tax career forward advising international businesses, or an ambitious Assistant Manager wanting to take the next step. Previous experience of working with multinationals is helpful, but strong technical skills, drive and curiosity are essential.

Key roles and responsibilities will include:

• Working as a key member of the team to provide International Tax advisory services to support our clients in achieving their commercial objectives.

• Managing and supporting on the successful delivery of technically excellent advice including tax structuring, refinancing, business and legal structure optimisation, pre/post transaction reorganisations, tax authority enquiries and providing technical support to the wider corporate tax team.

• Liaising with specialists in other departments and overseas offices to oversee their input into tax advisory projects.

• Coaching and developing more junior members of the team.

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and understanding of their business in order to create opportunities to help with the provision of tax and other services.

• Managing proposals for new work, including delivering tender documents, presenting at client pitches and identifying solutions for client issues.

• Seeking out and pursuing opportunities with targets and actively participating with Directors and Partners in business development activities.

• Being a role model for KPMG’s values.

Qualifications and Experience

• ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualified with strong corporate tax and accounting knowledge.

• Ability to develop, coach and lead staff, as well as manage stakeholders.

• Strong interpersonal skills are required in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.

• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills are key, as is a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice.

• Pro-active in identifying and progressing business opportunities for the long-term benefit of both KPMG and the client.

• Ability to multi-task – to manage a wide range of projects and relationships.

Managed Services, Tax Technical - Manager

A key focus for KPMG’s GCT team is to help multinational groups and financial services clients manage their global tax compliance, reporting and statutory accounting obligations, through outsourcing, co-sourcing, transformation and technology. The Tax Technical team is a critical enabler to all tax activities within GCT and provides expertise into KPMG’s complex tax audits.  Audit quality is of paramount importance and to do this efficiently, we maintain a dedicated and enthusiastic team of tax specialists.  We are also the engine room of the tax reporting, compliance, governance and low-level advisory work undertaken by the wider GCT team – servicing large domestic compliance clients as well as our Global Compliance clients.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Builds and develops positive constructive relationships inside and outside KPMG;
• Manages tax technical input on a mix of listed and non-listed multinational groups including involvement in the audit of tax in financial statements;
• Supporting clients with their group/statutory Tax Reporting needs;
• Provide advice to clients on GAAP conversion projects;
• Provide technical input to tax accounting project work;
• Manage the delivery of corporate tax compliance engagements and helping to lead compliance outsourcing contracts;

What will you be doing? 

• The end-to-end recruitment activity of Consultant, Manager and Senior Manager positions and internal vacancies.

• Utilising our applicant tracking system and Mi to effectively manage candidates through the recruitment process. 

• Managing stakeholder expectations and at times holding challenging conversations, to deliver a positive recruitment experience to all parties.   

• Ensuring that all talent acquisition processes and policies are adhered, in order to meet all internal and external audit requirements.  

• Adopting a proactive approach to filling vacancies directly through the building and utilisation of talent pools and the utilisation of LinkedIn/other sourcing tools to approach passive candidates. 

• Utilising employer brand digital assets to pro-actively promote and advertise vacancies. 

• Liaising with internal interview scheduling and on-boarding teams. 

• Effectively building relationships with third party suppliers such as recruitment agencies. 

• Collaborating with talent acquisition colleagues and other teams on projects. 

What will you need to do it? 

• Experience of full life cycle/360 permanent recruitment, ideally with a technical background.

• Experience of utilising various candidate sourcing tools (i.e., job boards, LinkedIn) to talent pool and directly fill vacancies.  

• In-depth understanding of candidate attraction through digital marketing and social media campaigns.  

• Excellent communication skills – fluent English language skills both written and verbal with the ability to effectively advise and challenge senior stakeholders on recruitment strategy. 

• Confident user of MS Excel to analyse and interpret recruitment MI. 

• A proactive approach to recruitment – able to respond to stakeholder and candidate queries in a prompt and timely manner with the ability to spot issues before they arise. 

• Excellent organisational skills – able to manage detailed administrative activities to a high standard to comply with firms internal and external audit requirements.  

• Exceptional stakeholder management skills which will allow you to build long standing relationships and effectively prioritise requests.
