You will be working on a range of projects in the water and energy network sectors. Your work will focus on cost assessment.

Our clients seek expert advice relating to cost and performance benchmarking. There is no ‘typical project’. You will need to apply a structured strategic approach to problem solving, drawing on established economic principles, while having the capacity to think creatively.

Our approach to benchmarking can involve econometric models comparing costs across companies. We also support clients through cost benefit analysis and other benchmarking approaches, such as unit cost models.

The projects that you will advise on will be high profile and varied. For example, in recent years we have advised nearly every water and energy network company on their price control reviews, been the lead advisor on several CMA appeals, and advised on major transactions within the sectors. We have the skills and capabilities to be involved in every major development within the sector.

The work will include a combination of report drafting, data collection/verification, economic analysis, econometric analysis, and engaging with clients.

You will also take a key role in developing the skills of more junior staff.

The Opportunity

• KPMG Law wishes to hire a Senior Manager (Senior Solicitor) - with experience in the real estate sector ideally working for private equity, sovereign wealth and/or real estate investment fund clients and owners with repeat activity. 
• KPMG Law wishes to grow and develop a legal real estate team to take full advantage of the synergies with, and opportunities created by, KPMG’s market leading tax and deal advisory practices.
• The Tax practice is worth £80/90 million per annum and KPMG is currently missing out on the opportunity to maximise clients in relation to corporate and transactional real estate work.
• The successful candidates will have experience within corporate or transactional Real Estate and may or may not have a portable practice that they will bring with them to KPMG.
• The primary focus of the hires will be meaningful deal experience in this space (KPMG is not looking for real estate tax lawyers as part of these hires).

• Extensive experience in prominent languages such as Python, Scala, Spark, SQL.
• Experience working with any database technologies from an application programming perspective - Oracle, MySQL, Mongo DB etc.
• Experience with the design, build and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure
• Robust understanding of design practices and system architecture and with a focus on data security
• Extensive experience of defining code review standards to drive quality
• Excellent problem solving skills with experience of troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues
• Experience working with cloud platforms and in particular architecting with native cloud resources relevant to data problems
• Extensive experience driving and leading Agile methodologies (Scrum, pair-programming etc)
• Have the ability to work in a cross functional team of Business Analysts and demonstrating an excellent understanding of business requirements.
• Strong communication skills along with ability to lead a team towards a great product/service and articulate technical strategies to non-technical audiences including clients at all levels including C-suite
