The Opportunity

• KPMG Law wishes to hire a Senior Manager (Senior Solicitor) - with experience in the real estate sector ideally working for private equity, sovereign wealth and/or real estate investment fund clients and owners with repeat activity. 
• KPMG Law wishes to grow and develop a legal real estate team to take full advantage of the synergies with, and opportunities created by, KPMG’s market leading tax and deal advisory practices.
• The Tax practice is worth £80/90 million per annum and KPMG is currently missing out on the opportunity to maximise clients in relation to corporate and transactional real estate work.
• The successful candidates will have experience within corporate or transactional Real Estate and may or may not have a portable practice that they will bring with them to KPMG.
• The primary focus of the hires will be meaningful deal experience in this space (KPMG is not looking for real estate tax lawyers as part of these hires).

KPMG’s Corporates Indirect Tax group focusses on the large corporates market, is a well-established group of around 30 dedicated indirect tax specialists who help UK and international headed groups address all of their indirect tax advisory needs. The team has specialists in many different sectors.

Overview

This exciting role is within our Tax Governance & Risk Management Team based in our CSQ office.

We are looking for a talented individual at Manager level to support our continued rapid growth around tax governance. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic and challenging working environment, supported by a strong and ambitious leadership team.

You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients across UK listed, PE backed, multinationals, inbound and family-owned groups,

Role and Responsibilities: 

Working as a key member of the team to further develop and expand the firm's tax governance offering, including advising clients on:

• Identifying and managing tax risks across the globe.
• Building sustainable tax control frameworks to meet global tax authority requirements.
• Identifying the tax risks within tax transformation and technology projects.
• Senior Accounting Officer and Corporate Criminal Offence compliance.
• HMRC business risk review preparation.
• Developing and documenting their tax strategy and its publication.
• Meeting global tax transparency and ESG requirements.
• Liaising with HMRC on tax governance related matters

You will also be involved in:

• Leveraging tax technology to improve risk management and compliance processes.
• Liaising with specialists in the UK and overseas offices to oversee their input into projects.
• Coaching and developing more junior members of the team.
• Managing aspects of the team’s operations and performance, including resourcing.
