The Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG) at KPMG UK (ca. 400 FTEs) provide in-depth advice on strategic, financial, regulatory and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Transport, Power & Utilities, and Social Infrastructure in the UK and Europe. Our work includes market and policy design, economic and regulatory analysis, deal structuring and execution, as well as strategic and transaction advice to enable private and public capital to fund infrastructure. We work closely with other functions within KPMG to advise clients on due diligence, transactions and valuations.

Power & Utilities (P&U), led by Dr Matt Firla-Cuchra, counts c85 FTEs is the largest business area of IAG and encompasses work for major clients in the sector, including all UK utilities as well as some of the largest energy and water companies in Europe and beyond. We provide in-depth strategy, market, regulatory, cost assessment, corporate finance, transaction and energy transition advice to players and investors in the utilities sector. Our work combines elements of policy, finance, strategy and economics to assist our clients in structuring investments, securing financing, supporting regulatory regimes for the benefit of customers as well as maximising shareholder value. Overview

This exciting role is within our Midlands Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in our Birmingham or Nottingham office. 

Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and inbound groups across a range of sectors. 

Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2).

We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time. 

The role

• Working closely with Partners, Directors and/or Senior Managers on complex projects to deliver technically excellent advice and service

• Managing UK and cross border teams on advisory projects, liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers, critically analysing and challenging their input to deliver successful projects and expertise to our clients
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients
• Managing teams and coaching and developing junior members of staff both in respect of technical delivery and soft skills
• Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials

• Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent

We are looking for a Assistant Manager with a Project Finance background to support the fast-growing Power & Utilities Projects team. 

The team specialises in advising clients on the delivery of large water and energy infrastructure projects including new nuclear plants, onshore and offshore electricity networks, interconnectors, reservoirs and other major assets. The Projects business is focussed on designing new markets and advising on in-house and competitive delivery models for major infrastructure projects and programmes.  We advise on all aspects of an asset’s delivery, including commercial arrangements, financing structures, regulatory strategy and engagement, and procurement processes – both for individual assets and new delivery programmes.

You’ll be joining our team that support the NHS and other public sector organisations in optimising value in the healthcare service through finding productivity and efficiency opportunities at an entity and system level.

You will sit in our Customer, Operations and Infrastructure team, with a focus on the healthcare sector and more broadly in government. This team provides in-depth advice on the strategic, financial, regulatory, operational, customer and commercial issues driving investments and operational decision making – through from initial strategic advice to financing, optimising cost structures and developing business cases and delivery plans to get change approved within government.
