Power & Utilities (P&U), led by Dr Matt Firla-Cuchra, counts c85 FTEs is the largest business area of the IAG and encompasses work for major clients in the sector, including all UK utilities as well as some of the largest energy and water companies in Europe and beyond. We provide in-depth strategic and technical advice on strategy and business planning and analysis, corporate finance and corporate financial management, regulatory policy, cost assessment and benchmarking as well as in other areas to help our clients create value for both shareholders and customers. Our work combines elements of policy, finance, strategy and economics to assist our clients in structuring investments, securing financing, supporting regulatory regimes for the benefit of customers as well as maximising shareholder value. KPMG’s Debt Advisory practice has a c.25 year history advising public and private clients on developing and executing debt financing strategies. The team’s typical clients include listed companies, medium to large privately owned businesses and private equity / sponsor-backed entities. Its experience spans the spectrum of debt markets, financing instruments, asset classes, sectors and situations (including M&A, investment, new debt issues, refinancing and restructuring / amendments to debt facilities). The team operates sub-teams focusing on ‘Corporates’ and ‘Leveraged Finance’, in addition to dedicated expertise specialising in financial services and real estate.

We are seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to join our collaborative in-house legal team. 

 The role involves advising senior stakeholders on a wide range of legal, risk and commercial issues, with a focus on drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts – particularly those related to procurement, outsourcing and technology.
