Power & Utilities (P&U), led by Dr Matt Firla-Cuchra, counts c85 FTEs is the largest business area of the IAG and encompasses work for major clients in the sector, including all UK utilities as well as some of the largest energy and water companies in Europe and beyond. We provide in-depth strategic and technical advice on strategy and business planning and analysis, corporate finance and corporate financial management, regulatory policy, cost assessment and benchmarking as well as in other areas to help our clients create value for both shareholders and customers. We are seeking a talented individual to manage and deliver client engagements, with demonstrable experience of managing the design and delivery of complex change and transformation programmes (People-Centric Transformation) to support our clients with addressing key market challenges. Typically, these programmes would cover at least one of the following areas: Target Operating Model Design, Organisational Redesign, Financial Recovery Programmes, Service Improvement, Back-Office Transformation and Digital Transformation.

The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors.  Whilst we have teams focused on clients in our three performance groups of Financial Services, Corporates and National Markets, we are a national and connected team, working and learning with each other.

• Financial Services:  We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds as well as institutional investors such as sovereign wealth funds and pension funds.  Our clients have UK, European and Global investment strategies.
• Corporates:  We work alongside some of the most forward-thinking FTSE 100 and 250 businesses, supporting them with strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures both in the UK and cross-border.
• National Markets:  We work across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds, looking to invest across key UK sectors to grow our local economies.

The Deal Advisory Tax team provides advisory services across the whole deal spectrum including buy-side due diligence and structuring, sell-side vendor assist and vendor due diligence, refinancing and listing support. Deal sizes can be anywhere from £10m to +£10bn – we work with a variety of clients and on a variety of deals.

We help our clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions, with a continuous focus on maximising value throughout the investment cycle. Working collaboratively across the KPMG network, our work often involve advice on multiple countries, taxes, and work streams.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Partners and/ or Directors on complex transactions to deliver exceptional advice and service

KPMG's Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) practice within Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare (IGH) is an area of the firm with tremendous growth potential as proven by recent significant wins. It provides services relating to internal audit, internal control, corporate governance, risk management and related assurance projects to our clients based in the public sector. Our services deliver added value to clients through the use of modern control assessment, risk management and internal audit techniques focusing on strategic, management and operational issues as well as financial management and reporting controls. We also work closely with other advisory teams including our colleagues in Technology Risk and Cyber Risk to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice and assurance. You’ll form part of a 20-strong team based out of the Manchester office, principally servicing our client base in the North whilst also being involved with work with our wider national team.

Responsibilities 

• Assisting with the management of a North of England and UK-wide portfolio of clients, maintaining relationships with senior KPMG and client staff and being responsible for the financial performance and delivery of these accounts
• Demonstrating a detailed understanding of how current and emerging legal, regulatory, governance, risk management, auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards affect their clients
• Understanding and assisting managers to undertake KPMG's internal risk management and client engagement management procedures including client acceptance, continuance and engagement procedures

The role of the Solution Onboarding Cross-functional TOM Lead is to support the solution onboarding program centrally across all KDN functions i.e. Audit, Tax and Advisory. It will support KDN leadership, central teams, delivery centers to align on priorities to onboard solutions. The responsibility of the role is to drive requirements gathering phase for solution and working for through Target Operating Model Blueprint aligned with KDN strategy for all new solutions. The focus of the role will be drafting and improvising a repeatable methodology with supporting documentation/assets to drive TOM Blueprint. Additionally, it will be to implement and track KPI's on the performance of the solution onboarding process; identify, validate and implement process improvement initiatives to streamline solution onboarding process.
