Summary of Role Purpose:

KPMG’s FS Forensic Financial Services practice is a key contributor to the Firm’s strategic growth initiatives. We have achieved rapid year-on-year growth since the team’s inception and have set ourselves ambitious targets to maintain the momentum. We now need an experienced and dependable Assistant Manager to assist in converting the existing pipeline, expand it with our current offerings and to develop our technology propositions.

Assistant Managers are responsible for managing the delivery of a range of financial crime projects. The team assists clients to assess, assure, review, test, and improve their financial crime systems whilst using innovative Data Analytics tools and approaches. They will be expected to collaborate across FS Consulting to deliver the best solutions for our clients.

An Assistant Manager who is a Technology SME is required to utilise knowledge and expertise to support the delivery of a range of financial crime projects with a particular focus on financial crime review, audit, assurance, and advisory-oriented engagements. Projects will be varied in nature and will include work to help clients design their approach to assurance as well as executing framework-wide or thematic reviews.

What will you be doing?

• Combine technical financial crime knowledge (across transaction and fraud monitoring, transaction and customer screening, and customer due diligence) and data analytics knowledge to deliver projects to a high standard.
• Leverage your technical knowledge, experience, and contacts to contribute to the development of proposals and in generating new business for the firm.
• Manage and mentor Technology Analysts from diverse backgrounds during projects.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory risk/landscape and use this awareness to flag issues of importance to the operation.
• Develop financial crime policies and procedures.
• Contribute to or develop proposals and propositions for internal or external clients.

What will you need to do it?

• Tenacious problem-solving attitude: the ability to identify and fix issues before they become critical.
• Financial Crime Knowledge: Using your existing Financial Crime knowledge and experience to design and carry out end-to-end testing of Financial crime systems. These systems can include screening, transaction monitoring, customer due diligence, and fraud detection.
• Risk Management: Experience in assisting with scoping, adherence to risk and management standards, internal financial management, managing delivery risk, production, and review of deliverables.
• Data: Ensuring teams can balance and manage data analysis of large volumes of data, structured and unstructured, utilising a wide range of database management systems, reporting systems, and visualisation software.

Corporate Tax Compliance, Managed Services – Manager  

A key focus for KPMG’s GCT team is to help multinational groups and financial services clients manage their global tax compliance, reporting and statutory accounting obligations, through outsourcing, co-sourcing, transformation and technology. Our Corporate Tax Compliance business is made up of a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Corporate Tax Compliance specialists working with our cutting-edge technology platform and our advisory teams to provide a first-class service to our diverse client base which includes global and large domestic compliance clients with complex and interesting tax profiles. We are now looking for talented Managers. The successful candidate will have good UK Corporate Tax Compliance experience, be able to build strong relationships, develop junior staff and provide excellent client service.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of clients and take responsibility for ensuring the tax computations are prepared to a high standard, on a timely basis and finalised and submitted to HMRC within agreed deadlines.
• Ensuring that clients are kept up to date on developments within Corporate Tax that may affect their businesses, including the implications of new legislation.
• Oversee the work of junior colleagues, providing coaching and technical guidance as part of the overall review process.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues and opportunities, reviewing technical analysis and involving specialists as appropriate.
• Respond to client requests for ad hoc technical advice and working with KPMG specialist teams to deliver an excellent and co-ordinated service to the client.
• Build and develop positive constructive relationships within your team, across KPMG and your client base.
• Opportunities to support clients with their group reporting needs and support with tax audit work.
• Manage aspects of the team’s operations and performance including coaching, career management and technical support for other team members.
• Follow KPMG best practice and policy.
• Build the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Strong UK Corporation Tax experience including reviewing computations and returns and acting as a client liaison through the compliance process.
• Knowledge of tax accounting (FRS 102. IFRS desirable but not essential).
• Ability to analyse problems, identify core issues and demonstrate curiosity around new ideas approaches and perspectives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication skills.
