Undergraduates: First Year Internship
Please note, our 2015 First Year Internship Programme is coming soon. Please join our Smart Network to ensure you are the first to hear when it opens.
This two-week programme is aimed at first year university students and takes place around Easter time.
After a one-day induction, you’ll join our Audit team and get straight down to business. During your time with us, we’ll try to do everything we can to tailor the experience to your interests, ambitions and aspirations.
Then, once your internship’s complete, you’ll have an invaluable insight into life at KPMG, the work we do and whether KPMG is the place where you’d like to start your graduate career. And if you do, remember you’ll be given preference when it comes to the graduate recruitment process.
What support will I get?
We’ll give you the support of a mentor and a senior manager to make you feel at home from day one. Your mentor's role is to meet you on your first day and help you to settle in. They’ll also introduce you to your team and answer any questions you want to ask.
An internship in Audit could give you great exposure to a variety of different organisations. It could also give you the chance to find out exactly how their businesses work.
As you’ll discover, there’s so much more to Audit than checking expenses and balance sheets, although this is a big part of the job. For us, it’s more about getting to the heart of how a business works, understanding the detail of its processes and systems, and assessing the validity of its financial reporting.
And because we try to build strong professional relationships with our clients, we’re able to add value to their businesses by giving commercial advice on how to develop and improve their processes. We can also share insights as to what we are seeing in their sector and how we can help.
It’s pretty complex stuff. But once you’ve got your head around it, you’ll be in a really good place when it comes to making progress in your career.
Who can apply?
Our Audit First Year Internship is for students who are in the first year of undergraduate study. On the other hand, you might be in your first or second year of a four-year undergraduate degree. For more information about our Audit First Year Internship, please see here.
