Apprenticeship Programmes: KPMG Discovery

The KPMG Discovery Programme has been designed specifically with students like you in mind – bright, ambitious and enthusiastic. As well as giving you the chance to gain invaluable work experience in the professional services industry, it’ll give you an excellent insight into one of the world’s leading business advisory firms, the work we do, the industries we work in and the big issues facing our clients.

Running in summer 2018 at a number of KPMG offices around the UK, the programme is designed for students in Year 12 or S5 who are interested in a career in business at a firm such as KPMG.

Whichever office you choose to join, the KPMG Discovery Programme will allow you to develop the skills you need to build a successful career. During the programme you will undertake a series of interactive business challenges, skills workshops and research tasks designed to develop some of the key skills needed to thrive at KPMG.  You will also have the opportunity to meet and hear presentations from KPMG employees across the business and, on our 5-day and 3-day programmes, work shadow to see the type of work our employees undertake on a day-to-day basis.

A culture of excellence and recognition

At KPMG, your future is every bit as important to us as it is to you. That’s why our aim is to provide you with experiences that stay with you for a lifetime.

We’re proud of our culture here. It’s one that recognises hard work, encourages new ways of thinking and embraces inclusion and diversity. We have an innovative spirit that inspires what we do and how we do it. Over the course of the programme, we hope you’ll share in that spirit and become a key part of our business.

Who is it for?

Our Discovery programme is for ambitious and enthusiastic students in Year 12 or S5 who have a strong desire to learn and are interested in a career at a firm such as KPMG. We’re looking for people who want to take the early steps towards their future career, as well as discovering more about themselves.

Where and when does the programme run?

KPMG Discovery runs throughout June/July across all KPMG offices.

Please note when applying the expectation is that you are available to attend the duration of the programme in your chosen location, if your application is successful.

Investing in the future

Students on the Discovery programme will be eligible to fast track through the application process for KPMG360°, KPMG’s rotational apprenticeship programme*.

“Going in to the Discovery programme, having known for years that accountancy is what I want to pursue after my studies, it was great to come out of the program with an even stronger mind-set that a career in professional services was indeed the path for me. This is down to a really positive first experience with KPMG and I wish to continue this journey with the firm after completing my studies at sixth form.

This is why I will indefinitely be applying for the KPMG 360° program starting in September 2018 at the earliest opportunity possible. Having identified that this is the career for me, I feel that taking the next step with KPMG is the best route to fulfil my potential and achieve my desired profession.”

Nicholas, KPMG Discovery 2017, Cardiff
