Join our Tax practice on this programme and you’ll be joining a team that works collaboratively with organisations of all shapes and sizes, helping them to navigate complex tax policy landscapes, and stay compliant with regulation by paying the right tax at the right time.

The programme offers a surprisingly broad range of career paths to ambitious graduates. Today’s tax function is rapidly evolving, keeping up with growing digitisation, increased regulation and the importance of the ESG (environmental, social and governance) agenda. Our job is to keep up with those developments, advising clients of new risks and opportunities. Especially important as companies focus on ESG priorities, shining a light on their tax affairs, whilst governments globally seek to drive greater tax transparency, and use tax as an incentive to help achieve wider environmental and social ambitions.

Our Tax practice also offers advice to clients to help them manage the impact of digital transformation, as new ways of working prompt significant changes to business models and taxation policies.

Across the spectrum of company and personal tax issues we offer holistic advice across International Tax, Deal Advisory Tax, Transfer Pricing and Indirect Taxes. Our People Services team advise on all aspects of employee reward, as well as managing tax issues related to having a global workforce, whist our Private Client teams support high net worth individuals and entrepreneurial families to manage their tax affairs and preserve their legacies.

With such a wide-ranging remit, Tax can offer the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of challenging and high-profile projects as part of a stimulating graduate career. Tackling challenges at the heart of client organisations, you’ll be exposed to, and develop a broad understanding of business, whilst you build valuable technical skills and professional qualifications.

On this programme you'll study for the CFAB ATT CTA, providing you with structured learning through a blend of innovative online, and in person study. You’ll develop valuable technical skills and have the support of our learning community – helping you to fulfil your potential in your career.

Our firm’s hybrid working model balances the flexibility of working from home with the importance of collaborating and learning in offices or at client sites. We trust our people to be where our clients need them to be, with our client-facing colleagues working together in person as often as needed. You’ll be empowered by the technology that supports us to work flexibly and our collaborative offices spaces, building friendships and shared experiences, innovating and learning together.

Training and development

The training and development of our people is critical to the future success of our business. We want to empower you to grow in your own way, to feed your curiosity and embrace a growth mindset in an environment where learning is continuous. Therefore, we have created a rich curriculum and learning community to help you build your skills and fulfil your potential. This ranges from an immersive 5-day induction experience to help you transition to the world of work, formal training courses, leadership knowledge bites, learning journals, online courses and networking events – all aligned to our ‘learn for a lifetime’ strategy designed to help you gain an advantage for life.

In addition, in Tax, we currently offer the Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) qualification including those that are joining our Scottish offices.

The CFAB ATT CTA Programme uses innovative technology and is delivered via a blend of Online Classroom Live and recorded courses, in addition to in-centre classroom courses. It also has wrap-around support which consists of dedicated professional coaches, online portal content and live and recorded additional study sessions, which means there is a form of support for your every need.

This blended approach enables you to study and learn the content at a pace suited to your learning style, but ensures all are at the right technical level prior to stepping into revision elements, so you can focus on your exam technique before the exam. The structure of the programme spreads your examinations over the lifetime of the training contract, so that you are able to build up your technical knowledge and can gradually apply what you are learning in training to your workplace experience.

Tax graduate programme | Birmingham

Emily

When I did the KPMG internship, it was challenging and I had to use my initiative – but that also made it really rewarding, and I found I was supported by KPMG too. The people at KPMG are very inspiring to work with. From this experience, I knew exactly where I wanted to be after I graduated.

Now I’m here on the Tax Graduate Programme in the Transfer Pricing team. I’m really enjoying it - you’re encouraged to try new things and to go for it. It's a really positive atmosphere in that sense.

I love the work too. Transfer Pricing is very similar to Economics. It’s essentially involves determining the substance of transactions as well as analysing industry and economic trends. It requires a lot of problem solving, which I really enjoy. The partner is fantastic to work with and I have learnt so much.
