Kelly has a truly international background. After studying Accounting in China, she moved to Germany to take a Master’s degree in International Economics. She joined KPMG’s Düsseldorf office as an Associate and was soon promoted to Senior Associate. In 2016 she moved to KPMG UK and became a Manager in Manchester.
"I’d studied both Accounting and Economics, so working for a professional services firm seemed the obvious choice for me. KPMG has an exceptional reputation all around the world. I also enjoyed the interview process and was drawn by how nice and welcoming everyone was.
I’ve had a lot of great professional development opportunities since I joined – particularly in terms of training. And it hasn’t just been formal training: I’ve been able to learn so much from just talking to my colleagues.
“Because of KPMG’s global reach, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to use my German, Chinese and English language skills.”
I was struck by how much support there is for new joiners too. The Directors, Partners and Senior Managers go out of their way to help you. I was also able to get a lot of early experience and responsibility, and that was important for my ongoing development.
I would like to keep using my language skills to work with bigger clients around the world. Aside from that, my main aim is just to keep growing my skills and responsibilities at KPMG.
I’m really proud of working here and with a rapidly growing team, there will be there will be further opportunities to grow my career. We’re also well-respected. Clients rely on our work and trust our judgement and experience. I’m also proud of our people. They’re the ones who make the difference and uphold our image. And I’m particularly proud of my team – of how hard we work and the impact we have on the firm.
At KPMG, we’re defined by our collaborative approach. This is a place for real team players who can cooperate with everyone."
