How to Apply: Application process

We’ve designed our application process to help us find out more about you. But we want it to give you a taste of what life is like with us too. That way, we can decide if we’re right for each other. As well as giving everyone who applies an equal chance of performing at their best, we want you to benefit from the experience as well.

We’re committed to encouraging diversity in the recruitment, retention and development of our people. Any data you provide will be held in strict confidence. It just helps us to make any necessary adjustments and allows us to track how successful we are in recruiting talented people, irrespective of difference.

Audit School Leaver Programme

Stage 1: Online Application Form

The application form is your chance to tell us about your academic background and any work experience. It should take about 20 minutes to complete.

Stage 2: Situational Judgement Test

After you’ve submitted your application form, you’ll receive a link to a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) within one working day. The SJT presents you with hypothetical, challenging situations that you could encounter at work as a trainee with KPMG. In response to each situation, you have a choice of possible actions you could take to deal with it. The SJT takes around 30 minutes to complete, and you’ll need to finish it within 7 days. Please do not start your application if you do not have sufficient time to take the test within the specified time limit.

Stage 3: Online Numerical and Verbal Reasoning Tests

If you’re successful in your initial application and SJT, you’ll be asked to take online numerical and verbal reasoning tests, lasting 20 minutes each. Designed especially for KPMG, they’re not only used to see how good you’re at reading and maths. They look at your ability to analyse numerical and verbal data – the skills you’ll need on the job.

Stage 4: First Round Interview

If you’re successful in the reasoning tests, you’ll be invited to attend a first stage interview in the office you applied to. This will last around 90 minutes and will include an interview and a written exercise. The interview will be with a Manager in Audit or a member of the student recruitment team and will focus on KPMG’s behavioural capabilities.

Stage 5: Director/Partner Interview

If you’re successful at your first round interview, you’ll be invited back to meet one of our Partners. This interview will be more in depth than the first round interview, but it’ll still be based around our behavioural capabilities. You’ll also be briefed on a presentation that we’d like you to deliver to the Partner. We’ll give you more information about this once you reach the final stage.
