The Team
KPMG’s Pensions Centre of Excellence (PCoE) is an exciting new initiative with rapid growth and new opportunities which has been established to standardise the audits of defined benefit pension plans, driving a consistent approach and audit documentation to ensure delivery of high quality audits. We are now looking for talented Assistant Managers with audit experience to join us in either a full or part-time role. You will be expected to coordinate the pensions audit delivery  from planning through execution, review and to conclusion across a portfolio of entities on behalf of the audit team as part of the centre of excellence. You will be responsible for interfacing with audit teams and internal specialists across all of KPMG's UK offices along with our offshore team who assist with delivery of work. You will also be working with external experts and audit entity pension teams. 

The Role
Assistant managers will be a key contact with the central KPMG audit team, with responsibility for managing the day-to-day relationship with KPMG Audit and for ensuring delivery to agreed timescales. The role will consist of working to tight deadlines and delivering a seamless service to audit entities of allsizes from mid-market to FTSE listed groups and across a wide range of sectors. We are offering both full andpart-time roles with flexible working arrangements. Roles and Responsibilities: 
Coordinate the completion of audit work and ensure it is delivered to a high quality in accordance with KPMG Audit Methodology.
Responsibility to work across a portfolio of audits and ensure timelines are met to deliver an excellent service to our audit entities. 
Maintain regular, open and honest communication whilst working together with the lead audit team and in some cases the audit entity.
Understanding and challenging the risk assessment for each client, ensuring the extent of work is appropriately scoped.
Develop the skills and experience of others within the centre of excellence team.
Reporting to lead audit team Managers and Directors on all salient points arising from the audit procedures performed.
Visits to clients/ local offices as necessary.
Seek the facts to provide insight and resolve technical issues, preparing technical analysis and involving specialists to prepare or review analysis.
Develop and improve the standardised work programmes.

The Person-Qualifications and Skills:
Fully qualified ACCA/ACA or international equivalent
Hold at least numerous years' experience in audit.
Experienced in review and development of underlying working papers.
Self-driven and resilient and able to thrive in a pressurised environment.
Ability to identify and resolve technical issues, or escalate as appropriate.
Well-developed team working skills with the ability to motivate a team and lead by example.
Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals (internal or external) at different levels of seniority.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
The desire to work in a diverse environment and undertake new challenges.
Strong project management techniques including decision-making ability, analytical skills, time management, prioritisation, organisation and evaluative skills.

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join our KPE Audit team.
As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day high quality delivery of audit engagements from planning through to completion. 
Alongside audit delivery work, you will also supervise junior team members, and provide coaching and development to help them reach their full potential. This will include planning and reviewing their work to ensure the 
work quality is to a high standard.

The Role

 

We’re looking for an experienced Product Engineering Lead to join the Audit technology team.

 

This individual will be responsible for the oversight of all engineering activities in the Audit business, including software development, cloud engineering, data engineering and data science, and for the unification of operations across the data, analytics, and AI product portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a technical background and have strong experience leading cross functional teams in technology delivery.

The individual will report to the Head of Technology & Solutions.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Build, manage, and orchestrate the engineering capability in audit, setting strategic direction and fostering a culture of technical excellence and the ability to pioneer.
  • Develop deep partnerships with product teams to provide the engineering resources required to deliver exciting, cutting-edge technology solutions.
  • Oversee a team of multi-disciplinary permanent, seconded, and outsourced engineering resources supporting a wide range of technology projects in the Audit business.
  • Champion agile methodologies with integrated ways of working between engineering resources and business users, so that business users are part of the full lifecycle to drive timely and impactful outcomes and foster a culture that embraces change.
  • Be accountable for the development of product features as defined by the business to transform Audit delivery and enhance user experiences.
  • Define and implement robust engineering processes, architectural principles and coding standards to ensure software quality.
  • Oversee alignment to Firm wide governance processes and implement appropriate quality control and assurance steps over technical development.
  • Provide technical challenge and support to the scope, budget, and timelines of all technology projects.
  • Establish a culture of continuous learning and development, supported by robust processes including career pathways, knowledge sharing, and high support for innovation, to attract and retain talented resources.
  • Build strong relationships with key technology partners and vendors, ensuring value for money, access to relevant expertise, and quality of service.

 

Experience & skills

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
  • Experience building and leading teams developing production grade technology solutions, overseeing the full project lifecycle including scoping, development, testing, and operationalization.
  • Proven capabilities in skilfully managing projects with organisation and discipline, showing attention to detail and with focused follow up to ensure results.
  • Comfortable with managing a range of developer resources across a portfolio of products in varying stages of the product and software development lifecycle.
  • Experience of working under Agile practices, working effectively with product owners, project managers / scrum masters and wider business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions to business problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Exhibiting emotional intelligence, judgement, and discretion - diplomatically anticipating problems, mitigating them, and adding value to the vision.
  • Familiarity with data/programming languages (e.g.: Visual Basic for Applications, VB, C#, SQL, Python), code version control systems (e.g. GitHub), and industry standard software development approaches.
  • Experience with technologies such as Microsoft Azure, .Net development, Databricks, Synapse, ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Platform (including PowerApps, Power Automate and Power BI) is desirable.
