Our Culture: Women at KPMG
"As the sponsoring partner for KNOW – our firm’s network of over 2000 women – I’m passionate about making sure women come to KPMG, have extraordinary careers and realise their ambitions. In my time at KPMG, I’ve set up a Japanese business practice, taken a career break to explore life’s interests and returned to the firm ready to take my career in a new direction.
Women at KPMG work in an empowering environment that gives us flexibility, choice and opportunity. We come from different backgrounds, have different motivations and make different choices about how develop their careers. What unites us is our vision to be the clear choice for our clients: we work shoulder-to-shoulder with them to help solve the big problems that matter to them most. I’ve written my career story at KPMG and I’d encourage you to come and write yours here too.”
Mina Shiraishi – Tax Partner and sponsor of the KPMG Network of Women (KNOW).
KPMG plays a leading role in the push for progress on gender equality – through our commitment to change in and outside of the firm and our relationships with organisations including the 30% Club and Business in the Community.
As of September 2016, senior women make up one-third of the UK KPMG board, we’ve won a place in the prestigious Times Top 50 Employers for Women list for six consecutive years and our established employee networks bring together women and men from across the firm to promote an inclusive culture that helps colleagues bring their whole self to work.
KPMG’s approach to Intelligent Working practices offer flexibility in the way women work to enable work-life balance and effective career development. We value those who contribute to our collective success and some of our benefits include birthday leave and five volunteering days each year.
For women working in finance, consulting, internal roles or technology, KPMG is committed to creating an environment where we all thrive, every day.
KPMG and IT’s Her Future
KPMG established the IT’s Her Future programme in 2015 in order to attract, empower and develop women in technology.
IT’s Her Future is a KPMG-wide initiative that offers our women access to the networks and opportunities that can help advance their careers. Hosting both internal and external events, IT’s Her Future aims to increase awareness around gender diversity within KPMG and the wider professional world, and spark conversations on exciting areas of technology.
Our mentoring scheme provides a senior support figure for all our female technology practitioners and allows them the space and challenge to grow. We are committed to supporting our people in achieving the work-life balance that enables them to feel accomplished and fulfilled both in their professional and personal lives.

Read first-hand accounts from our people who work in Technology:
We are there to help businesses leverage the vast range of capabilities that technology can offer.
In consulting, you get to see how multiple businesses operate, learn to distinguish what is best-in-class, and understand how to make the best even better.
I believe that having a willingness to learn is a much greater asset than a specific degree.
Not having a technical degree or background has not inhibited my career at all, in fact it has helped me.
IT’s Her Future launch event
