Working in our successful CTAC business will give you the opportunity to develop relationships with clients as you manage the tax compliance process together with getting involved on various advisory projects such as, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact of global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2).

 

What will you be doing?

 

This exciting role is within our London region Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in our Canary Wharf  office.  We work as a region which comprises 5 other offices. 

 

The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships, develop junior staff, provide excellent client service and identify business development opportunities.

 

  • Be market facing with allocated clients and target organisations.
  • Liaising with the client service team and with colleagues in other tax disciplines as well as the audit and accounting discipline to provide a co-ordinated service to the client.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and identifying leads for new work 
  • Ensuring that clients are kept up to date on developments within the corporate tax world that may affect their businesses.
  • Hold conversations with stakeholders in the markets and be capable of introducing relevant specialists from across the firm.
  • Lead by example with client relationships, technical quality and service delivery 
  • Actively promote team and personal profile to internal networks in order to promote collaboration and increase internal leads.
  • Being involved in business development and proposal activity
  • Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials
  • Being a role model for KPMG’s values
  • Managing teams, coaching, and developing staff procedures.

 

What will you need to do it?

 

  • Qualified (ACA/ACCA or CTA or equivalent).
  • Strong educational background (preferably 2:1 or higher University degree)
  • Sound knowledge of UK corporate taxation.
  • Sound knowledge of accountancy principles, in particular accounting for tax (including deferred taxation and accounts disclosures).
  • Strong time and task management skills.  Able to remain calm when under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Sustains a high level of drive, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work.
  • Monitors and upholds high quality of service and products to clients (internal and external).

We are looking to recruit a US Private Client Tax Manager to be based in our London office. The role will involve working closely in a strong team on a range of clients and exciting projects, collaborating with different teams and locations across the firm, as well as helping build a new US tax practice in a Big 4 firm.

 

Roles and Responsibility

As a US/UK tax manager, you will be required to manage all aspects of the tax compliance process and the wider client relationship management.  You will be required to lead and assist on advisory projects involving various tax and residency queries whilst developing and maintaining client relationships, under the support of a senior manager and/or director.

 

Aside from the technical role, you will be involved in the continuing building and development of a new US tax team within a Big 4 firm and expected to have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and constructively at a variety of levels with clients, their other professional advisors and your colleagues.

 

Experience with:

  • Managing the complete compliance process whilst ensuring work meets expected standards, including minimising risk and ensuring an excellent level of client service is maintained throughout.
  • Reviewing US tax returns and communicating points back to the team, and signing out completed tax returns as agreed with senior staff
  • Line managing junior staff.
  • Delegating work to other members of the team and having the ability to train and develop their understanding in both technical and soft skills.
  • Knowledge of other areas of tax (such as estate/gift tax, IHT and corporate tax) and to be able to identify when to involve other experts within the company
  • Client management and building relationships, ensuring all internal and external deadlines are met.
  • Taking the lead on the billing processes and working towards prompt payments.

 

 

What we require from you:

Essential:

  • EA and ATT qualified.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including providing a high standard of service to clients.
  • The desire to take ownership of your career and development.
  • Experience working in a US/UK tax role; currently an experienced Assistant Manager or a new/experienced Manager.
  • Experience of reviewing and signing out US tax returns and dealing with client tax requirements
  • Experience managing junior staff.
  • A keen and insightful appreciation of the issues facing clients and an ability to deliver bespoke tax solutions to meet their needs.
