Overview

 

This exciting role is within our Midlands Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in our Birmingham or Nottingham office. 

 

Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and inbound groups across a range of sectors. 

 

Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2).

 

We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time. 

 

The role

 

  • Working closely with Partners, Directors and/or Senior Managers on complex projects to deliver technically excellent advice and service
  • Managing UK and cross border teams on advisory projects, liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers, critically analysing and challenging their input to deliver successful projects and expertise to our clients
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients
  • Managing teams and coaching and developing junior members of staff both in respect of technical delivery and soft skills
  • Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials
  • Being a role model for KPMG’s values

Experience Required

It is expected that the successful applicant will be an English-qualified solicitor with solid experience, gained in the UK at a reputable firm (but applicants with other suitable experience will also be considered).

• Must be able to demonstrate his/her/their experience on transactions, and ability to supervise and develop more junior members of the team. Strong project management skills are a must.
• Be able to demonstrate good experience of coordinating the provision of advice and the production of complex and interrelated legal agreements and documentation by advisers in multiple jurisdictions. While consulting appropriately on difficult issues, he/she/they must be able to deliver robust and appropriate legal advice and exercise sound judgement.
• Significant experience of working with demanding clients across a wide spectrum of scale and sectors and be expert at service delivery.
• He/she/they must be able to demonstrate sound client relationship and business development skills, and a desire to develop these skills further.

Our economics team is part of our well-established utilities regulatory consulting practice, so you will benefit from working closely with other professionals who frequently support us on our cases, including regulatory finance experts and econometricians. The projects you will advise on will be high profile and varied. In recent years we have advised on subsidy control, CMA re-determinations, risk analysis, major transactions and much more.

  • Play a pivotal role in running projects and maintaining client relationships with minimal supervision from Directors and Partners.

Tax Transformation ERP – Manager

 

We are looking for talented Managers to join us in Canada Square, London (although flexibility on location will be considered) with experience in a broad range of areas including:

 

  • Tax transformation experience – the ability to analyse tax requirements, design tax processes and implement tax technology solutions
  • Strong and practical ERP finance and tax experience, specifically in SAP S4 HANA, Oracle or Workday, as a foundation for tax processes
  • Experience of design and configuration of ERP systems for tax purposes
  • Experience of implementing VAT determination engines and bolt-ons, such as Vertex O-Series, Thomson Reuters OneSource Determination, or Meridian VAT Add-On
  • Tax technology implementation experience, including requirements gathering from a tax, IT and users and creating and reviewing design documentation
  • Tax process knowledge, for example indirect tax, direct tax and/or transfer pricing
  • Familiarity with end-to-end finance processes (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Record-to-report) and their integration with tax

  • Project managing the overall delivery of global and large tax transformation and technology projects, often as part of a wider finance transformation program
