We work as a national practice providing advice and support in all aspects of Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs Duty, Green taxes) to a broad range of business sectors including large multi-nationals, household name retailers, public sector organisations and Financial Services.  The Indirect Tax practice is a fast-growing and dynamic business, currently with approximately 200 professional staff located across the UK.  We work to support our portfolio of clients with a variety of Indirect tax issues. 

In order to support our plans for our North of England Indirect Tax team, we are looking to recruit a motivated individual with a commercial edge who is seeking a real challenge, at Director level across our Indirect Tax business, to build on our successes to date and help us achieve our growth targets.

The Principal Data Engineer will be accountable for shaping the technical direction for data engineering initiatives and services within Technology & Solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise in Databricks and cloud data engineering with proven team leadership capabilities and a passion for driving innovation. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions, championing modern engineering practices including AI-assisted development, and fostering a high-performing team culture focused on excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth.

The Indirect Tax practice is a fast-growing and dynamic business, currently with 20 partners and approximately 200 professional staff located across the UK.  We work to support our portfolio of clients with a variety of Indirect tax issues.  Within the team we have specialists in sectors such as Retail, Supply Chain, International Trade, alongside our Public Sector specialisms.  We work closely with our colleagues in Trade & Customs, Corporate and Employment tax to deliver value to KPMG’s clients.  

The team currently have a Senior Manager opportunity join their successful and growing team.

This is a market facing role working with clients and lead KPMG Member Firms to frame discussions on managed services and transformation, lead or support the pursuit effort (targeting, formal RFPs) and lead the set-up phase of these engagements.
