Putting People at the Heart – James’ Inspiring Journey

When James joined KPMG as an Advisory Graduate four years ago, he was excited to begin a career that combined variety, purpose, and impact. “What I love about my role is the variety of work,” he says. “Every week looks different, whether that’s a new project or a different client and that’s what makes it exciting.” Today, as an Assistant Manager, James focuses on improving public services by putting citizens at the heart of change. 

James believes growth happens when you’re supported and encouraged to learn. “I’ve had so many opportunities to build confidence and develop new skills,” he says. “The culture here is about trust and collaboration - you feel part of a team that wants you to succeed.” For James, thriving means being in an environment where you can learn every day and know your work matters. “It’s a place where you’re supported to grow and to be your best,” he says. 

James also uses his experience to help others start their careers. He mentors university students, guiding them through applications and early career steps. “I want them to feel confident and authentic at work,” he says. “Playing a role in someone’s development is incredibly rewarding”. For James, helping others thrive is just as important as his day-to-day role. “It’s another way to create impact,” he shares. 
 
“For me, making the difference is all about people,” James says. 

“It’s about improving lives - whether that’s citizens who are using public services, colleagues in the workplace, or students starting their careers. I feel lucky that at KPMG I get the chance to do all of that.”
