Role summary

The role is responsible for driving strategic risk initiatives aligned to the global audit strategy and managing global risk processes. The role comprises a combination of leading and supporting on significant ad-hoc project work as well as developing and oversight of operational risk management processes and reporting. Role summary

The Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”) is a key part of KDN and is responsible for managing the organisation’s global legal risk. The OGC is seeking a highly experienced Paralegal who will work directly with OGC team members (including the General Counsel) to provide valuable organisational, technical and administrative support on a mix of corporate and commercial matters. This will include liaising with non-OGC stakeholders, both within KDN and across the wider KPMG organisation, including members of senior management. The successful candidate will support with a wide range of matters, including:

 

  • Analysing new requests for support / queries received into the OGC team and taking / following detailed instructions.
  • Reviewing processes and making suggestions to streamline them to improve efficiencies where appropriate.
  • Assisting with matter-specific Board resolutions – including coordinating any local counsel review and assisting with execution
  • Periodic (e.g., quarterly) reach out to local counsel to check if any new (including proposed) legislative updates
  • Assisting with Board meeting preparations, including scheduling of meetings, collation and circulation of pre-read materials, plus coordination of Board Minutes
  • Supporting team members in managing all phases of corporate and commercial matters, including ad-hoc projects as needed, administrative tasks and workflow management
  • Collating, organising and updating transaction and project documents, including version control and scheduling periodic reviews of these as necessary
  • Supporting with the preparation and maintenance of transaction documents, ensuring accurate record-keeping for completed matters
  • Conducting legal and factual research as required, summarising findings for lawyers and keeping up to date with relevant legal developments
  • Assisting with regulatory registrations, filings and related mattersSupport the team with workflow management, and ad-hoc projects as needed
  • Coordination and collation of team member input on matters where a collective view is required (e.g., comments on / suggested edits for team web page)
  • Liaising with Finance, Procurement and outside counsel to coordinate supplier onboarding and invoice settlement processes
  • Coordinating the production, maintenance and storage of template / precedent documents, including identification of necessary updates based on regulatory changes

  • Plan for and coordinate multiple Service and Organizations Controls (SOC) 2 readiness assessment and examination streams for several business and technology areas, coordinate auditor and key stakeholder meetings, gather requested evidence, track and reporting on progress and provide updates to stakeholders
  • Work closely with technology and business stakeholders to clarify compliance requirements and drive implementation of process improvements, provide leading practice and current guidance to control owners, assist in ensuring that controls are appropriately designed and effective and formally documented following global policies
  • Prepare executive management reporting on SOC2 efforts status, support the management of project risks
  • Identify methods to leverage testing for several certification, internal audit and attestation purposes and efficiently coordinate relevant activities 
  • Oversee activities to ensure that audits are planned in advance, considering scope overlaps, stakeholder outreach and resource limitations, and managed according to procedures. Develops and implements PMO processes.
  • Identify trends and proposes robust solutions for challenges. Identify themes in information protection audit observations and suggests solutions to efficiently address based on industry experience, leading practices and global technology group context.
