About KPMG

At KPMG, our values shape who we are and how we work. As a leading global professional services firm, we know that our greatest strength lies in our people—their unique perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. Through our inclusive leadership approach and ambitious diversity targets, we’re making bold changes to create a workplace where everyone can thrive. Be part of it. Make the difference.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Midlands Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in either our Birmingham or Nottingham office.

Our team works with a diverse portfolio of UK‑headquartered businesses and inbound multinational groups across a wide range of sectors. Our advisory work spans the full spectrum of tax issues arising from business change, including:

  • Supporting entry into new jurisdictions
  • Advising on new business areas and reorganisations
  • Managing tax authority enquiries
  • Pre- and post‑transaction reorganisations
  • Cash repatriation and refinancing
  • Interest deductibility
  • Navigating global tax reform such as BEPS Pillar 2

We operate as a hybrid team, spending at least two days each week together in the office or on client sites to collaborate, learn, and connect — with flexibility over where you work for the remainder of your time.

The Role

As a Senior Manager, you will:

  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex advisory projects, delivering technically excellent service and insight.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, gaining a deep understanding of their businesses to identify opportunities across tax and wider services.
  • Lead UK and cross‑border teams, collaborating with specialists, overseas member firms, and external advisers to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
  • Oversee the delivery of compliance services, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Support the leadership of the wider team, including coaching, mentoring, and helping to manage resourcing.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Manage engagement quality, risk processes, and financial performance.
  • Act as a role model for KPMG’s values and inclusive leadership culture.

The Person

You will bring:

  • CTA or ACA/CA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Ambition, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach
  • Strong UK corporation tax knowledge and broad awareness of related tax and accounting issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
  • A commercial, analytical mindset with sound judgement and risk awareness
  • Proven project management capability and the ability to lead teams effectively
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to developing junior colleagues
  • Dedication to ongoing technical and professional development

Why KPMG?

We’re committed to empowering our people to reach their full potential. As a Senior Manager, you’ll have access to advanced technical training, leadership development programmes, and opportunities to build expertise in emerging tax areas.

We also understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexible hybrid working that supports your wellbeing, while enabling high‑quality client delivery.

A final word from us…

Everybody likes to say they’re different... but we really think we are.

We’re hugely proud of what we’ve managed to achieve so far, but we’re only just getting started. We’re looking for people to grow with us and are committed to helping everybody reach their destination, regardless of what that is.

Should you choose to join us, you can expect an attractive benefits package, which typically includes:

  • A competitive salary
  • Pension options
  • Bonus scheme that reflects firm and individual performance
  • Rail and Oyster Card reimbursement
  • Staff discounts
  • Access to preferential banking
  • Lifestyle
  • 25 days holiday, with the option to buy up to an extra 10 days, plus an additional day of leave for your birthday
  • Competitive maternity and paternity leave
  • 6 days of work time each year for volunteering
  • Daily lunch allowance
  • Flextra – a flexible benefits scheme that allows you to choose benefits for you and your family, such as, travel insurance, critical illness insurance, dental insurance and discounted gym memberships
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Private medical insurance
  • Personal accident insurance
  • Life assurance of 4 x salary with the option to increase this via flexible benefits scheme
  • Access to private, remote GP appointments anytime and anywhere via a smartphone
  • Online health risk questionnaire
  • BeWell employee assistance programme for confidential information, advice, or counselling for life’s daily challenges
  • Group Income Protection

No matter what skills you bring to our team, you’ll be surrounded by spirited, naturally curious people. People who want to learn from you, and who’ll also teach you a thing or two along the way. It’s how we make a collective impact, greater than the sum of its parts.

And if this isn’t the role for you but you like what you see, keep in touch. There will be other opportunities to join us.
