Job description

About the role

Tax & Legal helps organisations navigate tax and legal considerations so they can make informed decisions and manage complex requirements. Within Deal Advisory Tax, you will advise corporate and asset management clients across the transaction lifecycle, including buy-side due diligence and structuring, sell-side support, refinancing and listings. You will join a national, connected team serving clients across sectors such as consumer, life sciences, technology, media and telecommunications, industrials, energy and natural resources, banking and insurance, as well as private equity, infrastructure, energy transition, real estate and institutional investment.

You will work closely with Partners and Directors on high-profile UK and international transactions. The team supports flexible working arrangements and recognises that some client-facing work may involve travel or time at client sites.

Roles and responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of clear, commercially focused tax advice on complex transactions, working closely with Partners and Directors.

• Manage due diligence, structuring and transaction support work, identifying tax issues, quantifying their impact and communicating practical recommendations.

• Oversee the review of tax-related documents, data and financial models to help clients make informed decisions and maximise value across the investment cycle.

• Act as a key contact for clients, legal advisers and KPMG teams, coordinating input and maintaining effective delivery across UK and international workstreams.

• Critically assess advice from UK and overseas tax specialists to ensure it is relevant, consistent and clearly reflected in transaction documentation.

• Build trusted client relationships and support proposals, pitches and the pursuit of new opportunities.

• Coach colleagues, collaborate with peers and create opportunities for shared learning and development.

• Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership and maintain current knowledge of relevant UK and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development developments.

Experience and skills needed

• Demonstrable experience applying strong UK corporate tax knowledge to transactions or other complex commercial matters, with awareness of related tax and accounting considerations.

• Evidence of managing projects and coordinating multiple contributors, priorities and deadlines while maintaining quality.

• Experience analysing tax documents, financial information or data and translating findings into clear commercial implications and advice.

• A track record of building effective relationships with clients and other stakeholders, supported by clear written and verbal communication.

• Experience coaching or supporting colleagues and contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including experience using them to analyse information and communicate recommendations.

Qualifications required

A Chartered Tax Adviser qualification, an Institute of Chartered Accountants qualification, or an equivalent professional qualification is required.
